Fantastic location and superb accommodation fitted out with everything you need for a long break Hosts are great we had a really lovely week There is plenty to do in the area for kids and adults Would strongly recommend this as a great place to stay and visit all of the snowdonia National park area. I’m hoping to return.
Gu and Steve are excellent hosts. the cottage couldn't have been better situated. Pity we couldn't have stayed for longer but we'll return to sample the local pub meals and more of the countryside.
The cottage were the perfect base for our short weekend break in Bala.
It was wonderfully decorated throughout and really clean. The bed we stayed in was really comfortable and the views from the balcony were breathtaking. Lovely to wake up to each morning!
The kitchen comes with all condiments and utenstils, as we ate in both nights this was really useful and the oven, microwave etc are easy to use. The dishwasher meant no washing up after also! The living area is cosy and warms up really quickly which is perfect after a long day of seeing sights and walking. However there is a pub down the road with a great menu too.
The secure garden behind the cottages was perfect for our dog and I can imagine sitting there long into the night in the summer (british weather permitting). There is also a BBQ and firepit area at the front of the cottages which we did not get chance to use but is definitely on our list next time we visit.
If the weather is not great there is also a games room with pool table, Darts board and large TV which can be used anytime and also dog friendly.
Steve and Gulin are wonderful hosts and made our stay really wonderful and enjoyable. The little touches such as the “I’m on holiday” dog tag, welcome hamper, flexible booking dates (not all cottages need to be blocked booked) and advice on the local area really made staying here memorable.
We can not wait to return only next time it will hopefully be longer than our short two night break!
Comfortable and nicely decorated cottage with lovely views and a pleasant walk over the fields to the river. A warm welcome was given by Steve and Gulin and the wine and welsh cakes were greatfully received! We would visit again if in the Bala area.
My partner and I stayed here over the bank holiday weekend with my sister and her partner over the bank holiday weekend. My only regret is not being able to stay longer!
Y Gilfach is a lovely snug cottage tucked into the corner of the farm. We found it very comfortable and homely, and one of the bedrooms had a beautiful juliet balcony looking over a great view. The owners have considered everything, from the tour of the great facilities, biscuits and jams, and bottled water and a bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble, and the owners made us very welcome.
Cottage itself had everything you could need with a dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer and cooker and plenty of crockery and cutlery. Bathroom was a good size and everything was sparklingly clean.
The facilities were great, a well stocked games room with pool, darts, ping pong and table football, and a lovely bbq area with firepit where we spent one evening toasting marshmallows- great spot for some star gazing!
Dogs are welcome, although we didn't take ours this time, there is lots of lovely areas to walk around. Location is a 10 minute dive from Bala, so very quick and convenient to the local attractions, food and pubs, although the cottage is so lovely we spent both our evenings there.
I would absolutely recommend Y Gilfach, it was a lovely stay and I would love another visit.
We had the pleasure of spending a week in this beautiful part of Wales. Bryn Melyn is ideally located in North Eales just outside the Snowdonia National Park. Only 30 minutes from Snowdon, Betws Y Coed where the world famous mile long zip wire and Fforest Coaster can be found. Lake Vrynwy is a beautiful, spot to take a picnic and go for a cycle ride only 30 minutes drive. The coastal town of Barmouth is also a great day out with beautiful beach and lots of cafes and interesting little shops. Conwy castle again is a must to visit with its huge walls to explore. Within 2 minutes drive is a lovely pub with very welcoming landlady Linda and chef extraordinary Martin who do a lovely dinner . But the best is the farm itself and the lovely Gulin and Steve and their friendly dog Boo who gave us such a warm welcome and enjoyable stay. They even have a new puppy, Bryn, who the kids will love! 3 cats also make up the welcoming committee! A well stocked games room for teenagers and adults is a good place to meet other guests along with a communal fire pit to toast marshmallows around! We will be back for sure next year. Can't wait!
