Being out of season we were not expecting too much as there was only skeleton staff on. HOW WRONG COULD WE HAVE BEEN!! The staff were very friendly, we were greeted and shown to the bar with a very warming log burner. The food was ordered and it came promptly when we were shown to our table. Throughout the evening the staff were very attentive and the food was well presented and delicious. Would recommend this to anyone if in this part of Wales.

We had been sitting for 90 minutes waiting for starters to arrive at another establishment up the road. Upon leaving there we popped into this place to check if we could eat (about 8.45pm). On busy triathlon weekend Saturday we were brought to bar to order a drink, then seated, orders taken and served in super quick time (we must have looked starving). Lovely friendly staff, nice food and atmosphere. Will be back again on our next Bala weekend.

We passed here whilst staying in Bala and from the outside (to those not in the know) the pub and restaurant looked a bit worn and scruffy, almost un-inviting. However, it was recommended to us so we thought we would give it a try. Once inside it was totally different. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful inviting us to have a quick drink in the friendly bar area whilst they found us an appropriate table in the restaurant that would allow us to put out baby pram by us. The restaurant itself is tastfully done in a traditional manner. Comfortable, clean and a very nice atmosphere. The waiting staff are excellent, attentive and helpful. The food was also very good and well priced. To top off a very pleasant visit, the owner/manager of the premises had a nice chat with us in the bar after which really made us feel welcomed and valued customers. Well worth a visit and don't be put off by the slightly dark / drab pub exterior.

We only stopped in Bala to find someone to show us how to increase the volume on TomTom. The man I parked next to in the main car park sorted that out in 10 seconds, so we decided to give ourselves a break (having driven down from Liverpool) and go for a short stroll. This bar/restaurant had attractive tables and chairs outside, and there were several cheerful customers already lunching. Inside the bar was clean and comfortable, and the service was quick, friendly, and helpful. They didn't mind that we only ordered one meal and shared it, and were very quick to come and top up my coffee - no extra charge. We felt really welcomed and refreshed.

We were staying in Bala and set out on a Sunday evening to eat at the Eagles Inn thinking we wouldn't have to book. When we got there bang on opening time, it was heaving with no tables available. To be honest, I'd have been disappointed if we had booked as it was so busy with lots of kids running round. So off we set for Bala centre to see if we could find somewhere else to eat. We ended up at Plas-Yn-Dre and what a breath of fresh air it turned out to be. We were immediately welcomed and shown to a table where we were not sat right next to other diners. The service was excellent and the food was superb - quite simply some of the nicest food we've eaten in a long time time and we eat out a lot. The quality of the ingredients was excellent and the way it was cooked and served was delightful. For mains, my wife had lamb bourgignon and I had cod loin, both of which were superb. The vegetables also were so fresh and not overcooked. Overall our experience was far better than one or two of the reviews suggested and have no hesitation in recommending it.
