“February half term at Trecco”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

We booked Trecco as no other park nearby was open so early, check in very easy however if it is your first visit the park is so large you may get lost looking for the van!

The van we had was sufficient, not 5* but a place to keep you dry, warm and to put your head down. We did have a few teething problems,no curtain was up in the kitchen on arrival and with my teenage daughter sleeping in the sitting room we asked for one and it was sorted with minimal fuss. Our first night we had no sleep as the double bed was broken but after reporting was sorted out very quick, in fact before we got back to the van!! All the staff we encountered were very polite and friendly!

The kids always had something to keep them occupied whether it was swimming in the pool, playing the machines or joining in with the kids day clubs. The evening entertainment was good but like all the holiday parks if you have children it can be very very expensive!! The kids ate at the showdome and we found the food to be on par with many other food outlets.

Trecco has an on site chip shop it is a little pricey but if you don't want to cook its handy, also a on site shop, launderette and gift shop. The beach wraps around the park and the kids loved the beach and so did our dog, if you are taking your pooch the one beach only allows the dogs on out of season but the adjoining beach is all year round dog friendly and just as good to walk down!

The only thing we would say about staying with the park is take your own pillows!! The provided ones are covered in protection but this means that the pillow shoots out from underneath your head as you put it to the pillows! We have tried to rebook but due to the popularity of the site we have been unable to for October half term, we will look to returning to Trecco bay.

Room Tip: We were closer to the beach so we had no noise from the main complex.

Our first holiday at a caravan park and my goodness it exceeded all my expectations. The caravan was immaculate, well laid out and lovely and warm. The park itself was immaculate as we're all the facilities. The staff were incredibly welcoming, polite and professional and the entertainment team put on incredibly polished performances every evening. The beaches were stunning and lots of amenities were within walking distance. On the last day as we were about to leave we realised we hadn't got my daughters Teddy. We had already checked out but had been swimming and had lunch when we realised and the caravan had already been cleaned out. The staff were so wonderful in helping us retrieve the Teddy despite our mishap and I had one very happy and relieved little girl! Really can't recommend Trecco Bay enough!

Having been to Butlins, Haven and Pontins, this was a first time to Parkdean and I was impressed with what I found. The park was very clean and looked fresh even though the pizza place and laundrette were closed due to recent storm damage. Reception was easy to find and the staff pleasant enough with check-in taking less than a couple of minutes.
Our caravan was a mid-range Rhondda type with 2 bedrooms but we had loads of room for 3 adults and 1 child. Ours came with a tv/dvd combo which was ideal and everything from potato masher to iron was supplied. Also we had the dog with us which is a bonus of Parkdean being a pet friendly park. Also each caravan came with its own parking space. But most importantly it was clean and well presented.
For the kids there is plenty to do. Arcades, swimming pool, play den, kids clubs etc. For me I loved the mini bowling alley. Just pop in your £2 and away you go.
There is quite a choice of food available even if you don't pay for half board. There is a chippy, a diner, fast food place, restaurant as well as a pizza place (when it re-opens). We went to the Coat Bar & Kitchen and a main meal plus drink cost £60 for four of us which was very reasonable as the food was fantastic and the service brilliant. The excellent staff were really helpful. As this was half term the waits at the diner and fast food place (in the showbar) was a bit of a drag.
The entertainment was quite good, but usually the little one is waning by then so most of the time its off home! Away from the showbar there is the Sportsman Bar with multiple screens to watch the match (always handy for the Dads!) and also the Time Out bar but I don't think there was anything on there with everything on at the Showbar. The kids entertainment is good and on a par with other parks with storytime and family games. The Parkdean Troupers were really good and very approachable and the Parkdean characters Sid and Lizzie made frequent appearances much to the delight of the kids.
What Trecco Bay has in its armoury is not on the park itself but the fantastic coastline and beaches. Despite it being February we were lucky with the weather and made the most of the beaches exploring the rock pools and high tide marks. Great for letting the dog run free too although this is banned May - September. From Newton point you can go right towards Porthcawl itself, which we did more than once, or turn right and follow the Wales Coastal Path towards Ogmore, which we did. The sand dunes were brilliant some topping some 100 feet and even if you're not a walking person its the fun of discovery that will keep the kids occupied without them realising you've walked miles, literally!
Towards Porthcawl itself you have the Coney Beach funfair and assorted arcade/food units which as with a lot of seaside resorts looked run down which made the park even better. The sea front was nice to go and see as with the weather still being a bit rough there were plenty of waves crashing into the breakwater and making a bit of a display. In the town itself there is a great Co-op which was ideal for us as we were self-catering and its a 5 minute drive from the camp to the large car park located just behind the high street or if you fancy the walk about 30 mins along the beaches.
The downsides for me were the on site shop closing at 6pm (8pm Mon and Fri)! This is where the Co-op in town comes in handy. Or if you're after a few beers or a bottle of wine right outside the camp is a lone Bargain Booze. Also the on site cash machines charged a whopping £1.75 to take cash out. One machine I noticed was not working by Day 2 and remained so for the rest of the week. Take enough cash with you or pop into town.
Overall though a fantastic experience and I would definitely visit again.

I stayed at this park with my partner and 3 year Son for a Friday to Monday weekend break with the Sun newspaper £9.50 holidays. (14th Feb to 17th Feb)

We have holiday’d with the Sun holidays quite a few times now & have visited many holiday/mobile home parks, this park has to be one of the best.

Upon arrival at 2pm we were greeted by the welcoming team at reception, the team are very professional and helpful. We were quickly given our keys are made our way to our ‘basic’ accommodation for the weekend. We did not wish to upgrade prior to our stay so was pleasantly surprised to find we had automatically been given an upgrade. Our accommodation had 3 bedrooms (we booked a 2 bedroom) the heating was on already (it was windy & raining when we arrived so this was much needed!) the lounge was very big and a bonus with a large TV & DVD player. We have visited Haven sites a few times to find the accommodation a little on the tatty side and a very small TV. This accommodation is the best we have stayed in compared to other parks we have visited in the UK. It was extremely clean and contained all the utensils required for a weekend stay.

The site:

 Soft play area was very good ‘ Jungle Jims’ – the charge was £2 for our 3 year old
 Swimming pool was a disappointment – VERY COLD! Too cold to enjoy the experience.
 Clubhouse – the entertainment team were fantastic, the children enjoyed themselves. We only watched one act on the Friday evening, the magician was superb. The clubhouse is very small, I would imagine in the busy months there are not enough seats for the site.
 Good outdoor play area for children
 Fish & chip shop on site is awful, we waited 30mins for the worst fish & chips ever eaten 

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, we do not believe there is enough going on at the site or the surrounding area for a weeks stay in the colder months, the beach is a 5-minute walk so in the summer months it would be ideal.

We enjoyed a sunny day out at Porthcrawl town & beach.

Would recommend to all!

Went for a weekend break during half term, paid for basic 2 bedroom caravan which I expected to be pretty basic but surprisingly was lovely and modern and had all the creature comforts that you'd only find at home. Brilliant facilities for children and plenty of entertainment throughout out break.
We have been to this park now about 5 times and always have a brilliant time.

Stayed during half term Feb 2014, booked a Cornelly 3 bedroom extra wide static.

The accommodation was very clean and well equipped, better than expected. Our only grumble was the quality of mattresses which prevented a comfortable sleep.

The park itself is very clean, well laid out and maintained very well with great staff, all the staff we met were very friendly, seemed to be happy in their work and very efficient. Service in every aspect was top drawer.

Location wise it is superb, right on the beach of Trecco Bay which even in February was great fun.

I can imagine the facilities becoming quite packed when the park is busier, however as we would use the park a cost effective winter escape I cant see that ever being an issue for us.

In all we will be back probably in October but next time we will take our own inflatable mattresses.

Just returned from Parkdean Trecco bay, stayed in a 4 bed caravan with friends 4 adults and 3 children. Caravan was lovely and spotlessly clean.

Entertainment was great especially the live rock band. Great kids disco and plenty for them to do.

Went swimming in splash land on the first day due to heavy wind and rain! Kids loved it and have to say I was impressed they cordon a lane off for adults who want to do a few lengths of the pool child free!

Lots of arcades, bowling, dodgems and Jungle Jim's. Kids were never bored!

The beach and costal walk was beautiful. Would be great in summer.

Crazy golf and adventure playground

Everything is really well run.

Definatly will be returning!!
