Not a patch on Cherry tree in GT Yarmouth!

We spent 7 days in Gt Yarmouth's Cherry tree last August and it was heaven compared to Trecco bay which had been recommended to us,

Trecco bay is massive, so don't expect it to be clean and tidy, from a site this big you can imagine how much refuge is blowing about before the collection days.
I had read plenty of reviews before booking this holiday some were good and some were bad so we took a chance and booked it online from the image of the caravan shown and within our price range. Wrong!!! Just because you pay a little more than you did last year does not ensure that you will get a better caravan this year.
Nearly £700 lighter after booking up and arriving to a shocking caravan, although it was a smoking caravan it did not smell of smoke just stale trainers! Dirty carpets, un hygienic work surfaces, tired and grubby upholstery, dirty marks around the walls where it meets the frayed edged carpets.
Complaining to the staff on reception got us no where, after moaning for 5minutes all we got was a scripted ' I do apologise for these issues sir and we will get house keeping to give it a clean so it will be ready for you in 1 hour'. So... we had no choice but to stay in that caravan until the following Friday(today). We don't live like this at home and you don't expect to pay to live like it. It is first impressions that make or break your holiday and when you don't feel hygienic it doesn't make you feel comfortable.
Food took hours to cook in the old cooker, the shower was under powered... and don't get me started on the state of the shower cubicle. Oh and the windows didn't shut properly due to evidence of being cro-barred open.
Any way that was the caravan.
The site is massive as mentioned and busy so we didn't use any of the facilities apart from the on site store and the arcades. Its not very friendly so don't expect to talk to anybody, its a bit dog eat dog with people pushing past and jumping queues.
GOOD POINTS
Lovely beaches and long walks, plenty to see in and around but stay away from caravan walnut 10.

The caravan was absolutely beautiful. It was Clean, spacious and ideally situated for all amenities.
The site was fantastic, and catered for everyone, what more could you ask for? The beach is just a short 10 minute walk & the center of Porthcawl is just a 30 minute walk. Bridgend is just a short drive, or bus journey away, which has a great shopping complex.
This holiday was absolutely fantastic, we have even booked again for next year!!! would recommend this site to anyone!

Room Tip: If you have small children, ask to be situated near to the shops when you book, as that is the most central location.

Recently stayed in a caravan in brambles, great location near Newton point , great walks, lovely beaches, fabulous local pubs (Ancient Briton & jolly sailor) ... On site the pubs are expensive but the food in the sports bar was amazing and reasonable . The facilities on the park are great, the pool is clean, big and fun and the water park, playground & crazy golf are wonderful!
Outside of the site , towards trecco is rather chavvy, sitting at the high tide pub is a little like being in the audience of Jeremy Kyle , a giggle though.
Overall a good holiday :-)

I live 4 miles from Trecco Bay & was very surprised that my family & I are allowed to pop into the holiday park to use the facilities. Not like Butlins & Haven where you have to pay a fee to enter the site. There is free parking in the main car park with enough spaces to choose from (most residents park next to their caravan). We like going to play crazy golf & get wet in the water playground. I haven't been swimming there yet or had a meal, although my husband has eaten there on a separate visit & said the food is nice. The onsite convenience store is pricier than a regular supermarket but that is quite usual for holiday parks, but they stock most products for emergencies if you run out of something. There is pedestrian access to the beach which takes no more than a 5 minute walk from the entrance of the holiday park to the the other end of the site by the wall which backs onto the beach.

We booked the smallest cheapest caravan option. I was so impressed - whatever I had read here. We arrived early but Reception staff said we could go in as our caravan was ready. They were lovely; gave us lots of info and showed us how to find the caravan. We were in an excellent position - minutes from both beaches, so we could do a very short circular walk and see to Porthcawl Town and Ogmore-by-Sea, and only minutes from the Enertainment Plaza. Everso clean accommodation with everything we needed. Loads of restaurants; lots of choice at Ocean. Different shows / entertainment througout day and evening. Ace water park and adventure playground. Pool was really nice; we often went after 6pm to avoid the crowds so we did not have to queue for the big slide. All the staff were polite, kind, friendly and helpful; could not be bettered. We were one-back-from-the-road, but it was very quiet. The whole week we did not hear any shouting; no rows - people were all happy to be on holiday. Easy access to Cardiff / Bay and Swansea / Gower for days out if you want; the Brecon Beacons National Park is a bit further but very do-able. I bet this site would be very good for groups of friends, and for younger children too.
