“I can say it in one word! SMELLY”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

The caravan smelled like cat urine. I am not exaggerating at all. It was sickening. They sent house keeping round to clean the carpet, although we told them this was pointless because it was not the floor that smelled. We came back later to discover the place still stank to high heaven. No one checked to see if the smell had cleared up. No alternative accommodation was offered. The roof of the caravan had grass growing out of it and there was clearly a damp issue. It was disgusting. The pool was rubbish and dirty and made you feel like you were changing in the open air, and the club was miserable with entertainers who seemed to have their own in jokes and take the mick out of the kids that they were there to entertain. And the toilets were disgusting. One day they were all blocked up and we had to go to the sports bar to use the loo. The beaches were dirty- weird pipes and bottles and all sorts of rubbish washed up and left there. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Caravan was clean and central heating was great! We visited all our usual places as we come to Porthcawl at least once a year. Make sure you pay for a newish caravan and everything will be fine. Would recommend visiting Aberdulais Falls, Margam Park and Salthouse on the Square for a nice meal.

Just returned from a Fri - Mon break at Trecco Bay,(we have going here early & late season for 5 or so years). As usual we arrived early had a spot of lunch, tried to see if our van was ready yet, it was! We (my wife Nik & daughter Kelly (17)) had paid for an upgrade (sun holiday) and ended up in a Pembroke Caravan, very spacious, clean & good equipment, clean linen waiting and toilet roll bin bag, if the fire was on low so the lounge area was warm ready for us. had pizza for tea excellent quality as usual. At this point I have to admit that we do not go here for the entertainment, we have never been to any show, because we go here for family time, so i am unable to comment on the night life, but what i can say is that there is a lot going on day & night, it is also a safe freindly place aswell. A walk down to Porthcawl is worth it aswell.very good place to escape the rat race and relax and charge your batteries at a very reasonable price too. we have stopped at many other sites like these from big names, but none are as good or so reasonably priced! Keep up the good work Parkdean!

just got back from trecco on fri after a mon to fri break .we had booked a caerphilly caravan but when we arrived they had upgraded us to a rio for free . caravan was lovely and clean inc bedding pillows dishes and cutlery and kitchen area so no probs there we were in cedars 98 which was quite close to entertainment area (main street ) so were pleased with that also .communal areas were clean to didnt use the pool so cant comment on that .night entertainment was ok usual type of entertainment in this type of place our kids were bit bored cos it was aimed at very young children mine are 11 and 12 so think they should consider older kids too after all they are on holiday to not just the little ones .didnt find the staff very friendly polite enough but didnt seem like they wanted to be bother with a chat.restarant was expensive but the diner in funtasia was quite reasonable the hotdogs were lovely mmmm .take plenty of money for arcades cost a fortune bowling bumper cars and all the usual games .the shoping area in porthcawl is nice old fashioned but got all u need while on hol and THERE IS A SUPERMARKET IN TOWN some reviews say there isnt but there is we used it its a co op .we would go back in future but think a week at the most is enough i think ,so we will still be going to spain for our main hol lol .

Room Tip: ask for van near to main street as otherwise you could have quite a walk

Have just returned from a Fri-Mon Break. We were on the Sun Holiday so to be honest reading the previous reviews our expectations were not high - But - we were pleasantly surprised. We had not upgraded so were allocated the basic caravan. We were allocated Brambles (No 16). We were a party of 2 teenage girls and 2 adults. The caravan was spotless and we had central heating. It looked like the seat covers had been recovered and there was nothing that we could complain about. The park facilities were very good. Went in the pool and it was very warm and clean. The entertainment in the main room was excellant. Prices not too bad for a park and quite a few deals. Did have a meal in the Coast , the food was okay, nothing fancy. Did have a pizza, these were excellant. The outside facilities for the kids were excellant, and the crazy golf very good.

It was just a short walk into Porthcawl, the fair and arcades do look a bit tired, but there are lots of shops in the main shopping precinct.

Overall excellant.

When we arrived, we discovered that all of the mattresses and sleeping areas in the caravan were either mouldy or heavily stained. This was a significant health risk and my young daughter developed a chesty cough as a result of the damp. When we complained to the reception, two of the mattresses were replaced, but this didn't solve the problem of the caravan being extremely damp and the remaining mattresses being mouldy. When we complained for a second time and said that were were considering leaving early, the receptionist said that they would put some salts in the room. This didn't resolve the situation and as a result we decided to leave early and go home. When we went the check out and said that we were leaving early, the receptionists didn't make any efforts to resolve this.

We were also very surprised to have to pay extra for the basic child safety features such as, bed guard and high chair given the cost of the holiday in the first place and that it is advertised as a child friendly holiday. There was also no monitoring of the play areas so older children were playing on the toddler play ground making it dangerous for my 2 year-old. The duck and dragon mascots didn't listen to me when I told them that my child was scared of them, and persisted in coming up to her even when she was crying, giving her nightmares for the next week!

Stayed at Trevor bay with my husband and my 10 year old son. Was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews, but from the moment we arrived until time to leave, we had a great time.

The park itself is set on a lovely sandy beach and is a huge bonus to this park. We were allocated a lovely almost brand new model caravan and it was immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need, including flat screen tv's in the living room and also the bedrooms. There was plenty of parking space at the side of the caravan also.

The facilities on the park are what you would expect, some a little dated, such as the shops and the entertainment. However, the swimming pool, reception, restaurant and park were fantastic and very modern.

All of the staff we encountered we're friendly and helpful and always happy to help.

Many caravans are owned privately, but this was not a problem at all, the caravan next to us was privately owned and the owners were very friendly and quiet.

As with most caravan parks in the UK, you of course encounter your fair share of loud mouthed chav types, who's idea of fun is to embarrass themselves by behaving like animals, but if you just ignore them, it will not take anything away from this lovely park. After all, it is not the guests I am reviewing, it is the park itself!

All in all, we had a lovely break here and would definitely return.
