It's a narrow, fast and windy road from Fort William to Port Appin, and you think you will never get there, but this place makes it worth it. The welcome you get is genuine and warm, the rooms are modern, simple and comfortable, and food is very good. Most importantly, you get to change gears, just by gazing out on this idyllic stretch of coast, across to Lismore, and to watch the ferry and small boats come and go. The hotel and restaurant are both professionally run. If you don't eat seafood there are a few other options, and nearby towns such as Oban widen the choice. Lismore may look a little nondescript from the hotel but it is full of charm, and you get a different perspective of the area from the island. Overall a very relaxing stay.

Room Tip: A sea-facing room is a good bet.

What a really nice all-rounded well written review! Many thanks indeed and please come and see us again. You'll be welcome anytime with a drink or 2 on the house. The only thing is I cant see your name due to the joys of the Tripadvisor system! Kind regards Nick

This is a lovely small hotel in an amazing position, with wonderful views of the island of Lismore and other hills etc. Our room was very comfortable with a luxurious bathroom. High quality furniture with loads of drawers and hanging space.

Our two evening meals were excellent (incl lobster) and it was good service.

I should also say - if possible, do stay at least two nights and go to Lismore for a day. The ferry leaves from outside the hotel. Very cheap for passengers and bicycles (no cars)... then you can cycle or walk to the museum, 3-4 miles away, where there is also a good cafe, with views as far as Ben Nevis.

Quite a nice clean place with VERY accommodating personnel. We had car trouble and did not arrive until 10:30 P.M. The bartender went into the kitchen to see what he could find and fixed a very nice cheese plate for us as we had had no dinner and the kitchen had closed. Our room was in the back which worked out fine as we weren't there very long, but the view from the front is outstanding. A ferry stop at the pier with passengers only, so a good "people watching" place. We were asked to leave our room by 10 or 11, but our car would not be available until 2 so we hung out in the very cozy lounge. Very good breakfast with the best coffee we had in Scotland; order from the menu or just have a cold breakfast. There is a very nice walk just behind the hotel to the Appin Arches...picturesque and easy. They have a Scotland "beach" which is made up of fairly large rocks...but several people had spotted sea otters there. The water is beautiful.

That says alot coming from the land of coffee experts so thanks indeed! Next time you are over from the US we will hope to see you again. Best wishes Nick

This place is a travellers's dream come true.
A dreamy location right on the beach with glorious wild sunsets.
A comfortable and welcoming bar which is patronised by locals...I'm not surprised!
An excellent bar menu for dinner and superb ( very treaty) restaurant. We enjoyed both.
The staff were charming and couldn't do enough for you.
Blissfully comfortable, scrupulously clean and contemporary rooms with excellent showers ( after five weeks travelling in Scotland to have showers which weren't over high sided baths was heaven).
We loved this place and certainly hope to return and would base ourselves here to explore and do day trips elsewhere.
My only hesitation in writing this review is that it might be more difficult to get a room next time!

Room Tip: If you want to have a view over the Loch ask for one of those rooms, but really you don't need it unless you plan to sit in your room all day. I looked at all the rooms and we couldn't have been more comfortable in our lovely rooms which had more of a garden outlook.

I love the fact that you describe The Pierhouse as "Heaven", so many thanks indeed for your review. I am very pleased that you had good weather and enjoyed all our facilities. Amongst other things it is always especially gratifying to read nice remarks about our staff who are the single most important asset is this establishment. Until the next time you hopefully visit from Melbourne, best wishes Nick

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Pierhouse in April this year, After travelling around Ireland and Scotland during the month we both felt very at home at The Pierhouse to come and go as we pleased.
Catherine went over and above with any of our silly requests from booking tours to serving our meals she is a credit to the property owners.
The meals were superb matched only by the stunning views, The rooms were quiet, comfortable clean and spacious what more could you ask for.
We will most definitely return there sometime in the future, loved our stay!

Room Tip: Lake View rooms are well worth it.
