I don't know how we found it even with the help of our Garmin. Pierhouse is at the end of a 3.5 mile one lane road. But, all the locals know it's there and pack the restaraunt; and the hotel was completely booked with tourists from the UK and Europe. The lobsters and crabs come from their own traps.
Rooms are adequate; view is spectacular; food was fabulous. Pierhouse is a small hotel located at the pier of an even smaller ferry to the enchanting island of Lismore. Sitting on the patio with a local ale or sinlg malt watching the sunset over the firth was heavenly.
We booked two nights and had intended to use the full day to travel to the Isle of Mull, but we just couldn't make ourselves leave, so we took the ferry to Lismore instead.

My wife and I came here on a recent visit to the area. The Pierhouse came highly recommended so we had to give it a shot. We came on a Tuesday lunchtime and were surprised to see so many people milling around. We decided on sharing the seafood platter from the bar menu. Wow! For fresh seafood ou cannot beat the west coast of Scotland. Everything was incredibly fresh. The huge Langoustines were amazingly sweet and the mussels in white wine and garlic were simply delicious. The Pierhouse is a great restaurant in such an idilic setting. Well worth a visit!

We stayed here for one night in August. Beautiful views, wonderful breakfast. The rooms, though small, were cozy and well-appointed. Our family of 4 slept beautifully in a family room with an additional bed brought in. We plan to return, since there are wonderful hikes to do from Port Appin, and so much more to see. It is off-the-beaten trail and makes you feel that you have found something special in this part of Argyll. We enjoyed vsiting the Port Appin Art Studio, just behind the hotel - beautiful!

Just returned home after a wonderful 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. Idyllically situated in a very quiet location in Port Appin next to the passenger ferry terminal to the beautiful island of Lismore (1/2 a mile away), the Pierhouse is a quaint historic white-painted building with the most welcoming of staff and a fantastic restaurant. Essentially a seafood restaurant serving extremely tasty seafood dishes there is also a locally produced meat menu- the venison dish being especially good.
This small hotel has a very cosy residents lounge with log-burner and deep luxurious sofas and wonderful views over Loch Linnhe. The room was clean and well-appointed and the bed very comfortable.
The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We hired bikes (cheaper from the Pierhouse than the bike-hire company just up the road) and spent a great day exploring the island of Lismore. The ferry trip costs £1.55 each way and runs on the hour, taking all of 8 minutes to reach the island. Would definitely like to return here!

Room Tip: Need to book well in advance to get a seaview room
