“Wonderful place to relax”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We go to this hotel a couple of times a year to relax. It truly is a beautiful place. It combines a great pool área with walkways and rooms filled with antiques and other art and interesting details. In my opinión the food is not its strongest aspect - we prefer to go to some of the nearby restaurants. But that pool área is absolutely fantastic - wonderful place to relax. If you go on a weekday the place is almost empty which is delightful, but that also limits restaurant options. Apart from holiday periods Santa Fe is predominantly a weekend destination.

I stayed at Hotel Mariscal Robledo for 2 nights earlier this month. I speak very little Spanish, and the staff for the most part do not speak very much English. The purpose of my trip was to explore this beautiful Colonial town and to visit a friend who has recently moved to Santa Fe De Antioquia.

Notwithstanding my lack of Spanish skills,I felt very at home and most welcome...they tended to my every need. I loved the feel of the Hotel, it was like a museum.... in a good way.

Breakfast was included in my room rate, on the weekend(the Saturday) was a buffet....and a set breakfast on the Friday. The pool area was amazing and the view was beautiful.

If I return to SFDA, I would only consider staying at Mariscal Robledo.

Thank you also to Sara Monsalve Directora Comercial, who was most helpful both prior to my arrival and during my stay.

We had an excellent stay at this historical hotel. The hotel is unique with full of colonial style of living in early 20th century. You will find antique clocks to furniture all around the facilities. It has an open yard full of flowering and fruit plants. The room we stayed in was big enough for three of us. Dinning area is quite spacious but do not expect many vegetarian dishes.
Manager Linda Gamboa and Melizza Alvarads were very helpful and were ready to help, They do not have safe in rooms and I recommend not to use the safe at the front desk. Unfortunately we lost some cash however, Linda made us whole.

The front desk staff, Vicky, Alejandra Piedrahita and Diana Loaizel are great people always ready to get you what ever you want. Unfortunately, they do not speak English hence brush up on your Spanish before you get there. You will have great experience.

Room Tip: Look for a room facing the front just above the entrance.

Fantastic place to stay, economic but not cheap; bookings through bookings.com or tripdvisor seem to attract better deals. The food though very good isn't top notch class, a 8/10 in our opinion but there are a couple of good restaurants in Santafe de Antioquia that are worth visiting. A highly recommended place to stay in a marvellous and fascinating place to visit while in Medellin, Antioquia.

We immediately fell in love with this fabulous old-fashioned, funky, antiques-filled, old-colonial hotel in the also old-colonial city (pueblo) of Santa Fe de Antioquia (antee-oak-quwee-ya) about a 2-hour ride northwest from Medillin. We rescheduled our trip to spend another day there at the end of our trip. It was so calm and refreshing in a country that is always bustling. Food was simple but delicious; buffets not fancy but tasty ($14?). GREAT (free) coffee as you would expect. Hotel is the site of several yearly film and photo festivals in Colombia and I can see why. Rooms, lobby and dining room filled with antiques, many old cameras, etc. Large warm pool and shady sleeping lounges also wonderful in the hot summer. Service lovely and friendly. Very short walk to main plaza.
We have been to 80+ countries and many hotels but this is now on our top 10 list! Gracias.
Don't miss seeing the steel suspension bridge over the Cauca river outside of town, built at the same time as the Eiffel tower (1887).

Room Tip: Try to get the rooms #200's on the 2nd floor facing the shops; not the pool. They are much bigg...

It's difficult to find a hotel that joins so many positive conditions , that make a unique experience of a trip. The service, the food, the warmth of the people, the activities they offer, the quality of the rooms made us want to go back every time we want to live something special.

This is a beautiful hotel with lots of character located just 2 blocks from the main plaza. There are many antiques scattered throughout the rooms and common areas, many of which are for sale. The pool is large and clean and surrounded by pretty trees and flowers with lots of lounge chairs to relax in. The food and service in the restaurant was good. I stayed with my mom and a friend who were visiting from the US, and their only complaint was that no one on the staff spoke any English and the reception staff could have been a bit friendlier. Overall a great experience.
