Staff here were charming, the setting is spectacular, the food was good but not outstanding. Possibly a little harsh as it was only a week after the Hurricane.
Several wines unavailable, which made the overall bill quite expensive.
However I would recommend it, it's a very romantic place and my wife and I thoroughly enjoy the experience.

The Rainforest Hideaway Restaurant, another bar, another Martini, another Cosmopolitan. Jazz played in the background, the waiters and bar staff smiled and made eye contact. The dining area is actually on a dock over the water of the bay, the air was sultry and heavy with the smell of sandalwood incense.
A very concise menu terrifically cooked and served with those little odds and sods that magically appear between courses ‘with the complements of the chef’. What stands head and shoulders above a terrific meal was the Scallop Soufflé madam had as a starter, I had a Tuna Tartar which tasted fresh and zingy. Followed by a Tenderloin and Dorado for main courses. One dessert between us a white and dark truffle cheese cake which was not your usual afterthought and melted in the mouth. Coffee came in heated cups and a large Glenfiddich in a brandy balloon. The staff employed just the right balance of formality and familiarity neither obsequious nor ‘matey’. The head chef I understand started as the gardener and he is, as is the rest of the team, St Lucian. This is a first class restaurant and stands its own against the best restaurants in Jersey.

on our recent trip to the beautiful island of st lucia we had an opportunity to dine at the very well reviewed Rainforest Hideaway.
it is located on the north side of marigot bay a very short walk from the marigot beach club. the restaurant and lounge are right on the waters edge.
if you are staying on the south side of the bay, you can take the ferry. it is only a minute or two to cross. usually it costs $2 per person for a return ferry ride. i am not sure if the restaurant will cover the cost of this ride or not as we were staying on the north side and walked.
you can go to the website to see a menu and prices before making your decision to go or not.
we found the service to be very good. our waiter seemed a bit shy and maybe even a little nervous but he did a great job. he was very polite and helpful.
the food was well prepared and we enjoyed both our meals. it was a pleasant surprise to be treated to a few different snacks between courses as well.
the only drawback to visiting rainforest is the cost. it is very expensive. so be sure to check the website ahead of time for pricing. we had done our homework ahead of time and knew the costs involved. seeing as it was our only real "splurge" that week, we did not mind spending the money. in their defense however, the bay area on a whole is very expensive to eat out.
so overall we were glad we got dressed up and had the night out. but would i make it a regular stop.......no. but if we had the finincial means to eat their regularly, we would. it is surely the best theat marigot bay has to offer.

Reading the reviews we were really excited about dining at Rainforest Hideaway. we were staying opposite andso made it out first prt of call for dinner. Once you arrive off the water taxi, it is indeed a lovely spot, and on the saturday we went they had a jazz singer. However the set menu has a limited choice, and doesn't offer value for money, even with the amuse bouche and palette cleanser. Our starters (mushroom ragot and soup) were a bit like school canteen food, with unbalanced flavours and a lack of seasoning. The main course meats were fine, but I had the couscous, which was actually bulgar wheat and practically raw! Not what you would expect from a place like this. We had far better food at every other restaurant in the bay and were not tempted back, even by the location. Overall it was a real let down. I'm just grateful it was low season and we didn't have to wait for a table, otherwise it may of felt even more disappointing.

This is rather the only show in town if you want more than a local, very casual atmosphere. The setting is good on the bay but the menu very limited, portions small and poor value for money. The owner uses the same phrases with each guest and it begins to feel like nightly patter rather than customer care.
