We loved this restaurant. While it is a little pricey, how often are you in St. Lucia on Marigot Bay? You have to try it! We met the owner while we were there, a very nice gentleman. The food was amazing! Everything came out looking like a piece of art! Will definitely come back next time we are in Marigot Bay, it was a magical evening!

Dear Jeasue

Thanks for taking the time to write a review of Rainforest - and glad you enjoyed the experience. Not sure about the "nice gentleman" comment. Must have been one of his good days. His well-earned nick-name is "Mr Grumpy"...

Dear Katielulu

Thanks for your very positive review of Rainforest. Glad you enjoyed it so much..!

Unfortunately Michelin don't rate Caribbean restaurants so we have to be satisfied with our TripAdvisor "Travelers Choice" award - which is as rare as a Michelin Star. No other St Lucian restaurant has ever been awarded one - and we have two - 2008 and 2013. Our founding Chef, Jim Verity, returned to England in 2009 so that he could work for a Michelin Star. He got listed last year and hopes for the star this year. His legacy is the standard he set for Rainforest.

Chartered a boat from Sugar Beach to Marigot Bay. The boat docks at the restaurant. While the service was a bit slow, the food was very good. Flavorful and creative. Beautiful views of the bay can't be beat. It's open air dining so you are on the menu...for the mosquitos. It took some effort to enjoy the food while fighting mosquitos. Good experience overall though.

Dear Joe L

Many thanks for your review. Many of our guests who elected to come by boat from Soufriere,, Anse Cochon or Rodney Bay in the north have told us that the experience was the highlight of their vacation - a sunset cruise to Marigot, dinner at Rainforest and then a starlight or moonlight cruise back. Marigot Magic...!

Sorry about the mosquitos. We normally burn mozzie coils throughout the bar and restaurant but they are unobtainable at the moment - sold out because of the chikungunya problem. The good thing is that the Aegypti mosquitos that carry chikungunya and dengue don't eat at night - so the ones munching you are mostly harmless - if irritating. Most restaurants in St Lucia are open and I don't think our mozzie problem is worse than any others - except the enclosed air-conditioned ones - but most people don't come to the Caribbean to dine indoors....

Almost all restaurants are open air in St Lucia and I don't think our mozzie problem is worse than any others. So

An excellent two-course meal for my wife and me. She had the Beef Tenderloin, I had shrimp dish. She had tea, and I had 2 beers. The check came with sticker-shock however, which was about EC$405 (US$150) with tip.

Dear Stringbean_in_keene

Many thanks for your review of Rainforest. I am glad you enjoyed both the food and the service.

We have always accepted that we are probably the most expensive independent restaurant in the Bay - but the "fine dining" presentation with matching high service standards, live jazz on three nights per week (year-round) and an International chef leading the kitchen team costs a lot more to deliver than our local competitors. As many diners report, Rainforest is a unique dining experience - not an every day eating place - and the consistent reviews have led TripAdvisor to list Rainforest as "One of the Top Ten Fine Dining Restaurants in the Caribbean" - not once but twice - in 2008 and again in 2013 - an award that no other St Lucian restaurant has ever achieved to date.

Quality comes at a price - but value is not purely a function of price. Our own observation is that the price differential between Rainforest and the restaurants you name in your other reviews has narrowed considerably over the past two years - largely because Rainforest has not increased its prices in more than three years - when other have.
