This house is situated on the Southwest corner of Marigot Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean. It boasts breathtaking views of the ocean to the west and the entire bay. The west and north sides of the house are open (no outside wall) with the exception of the sleeping quarters which are enclosed. This floor plan was a little strange in the beginning but you quickly adapt and appreciate the breezes, the solitude, the beautiful surroundings and even the birds and small lizards which join you at mealtime. The private plunge pool is an awesome way to spend the afternoon. There is daily maid service and the owner is frequently in contact giving you more of a bed & breakfast feel than the normal rental house. You could tell that the house is not just an investment for her but something close to her heart. The house also has a story behind it (see the Man Who Loved Schooners by RL Boudreau)).
The house is situated at the top of the cliff and at the end of a rather primitive road. So if you want complete solitude, your in luck. Taxis will come to pick you up but you might want to think about a car. Just be ready to drive on the left and uphill or downhill at all times. Due to the volcanic history of the island there are no flat roads.
All in all a great experience and the best views in the Caribbean, even when it is raining!
