“Quick Stopover in Paradise”
Reviewed December 19, 2011

We decided to get on solid ground for a few days and Sheriva Villas had availability in a 2 bedroom pool suite. We didn't need an entire villa, and were a bit reluctant to book after reading some of the recent reviews. As this was so last minute, we really didn't know what to expect when we arrived at the Blowing Point ferry, but we were met by a professional taxi driver with our name on a clipboard just outside the exit doors. The drive was only about 5 or 6 minutes to the Sheriva. When we pulled into the gates, we were met by Latoya who had been instrumental in confirming our reservation in such a haste. We had confirmed a suite, but we walked into a massive 2-bedroom VILLA with the most amazing views of St. Martin and the ocean. We had rum punch served by the ever smiling Simone and then took a tour of this magical place. We had a huge infinity pool, suites the size of our apartments back in the US and UK, marble floors, a hot tub, WiFi worked great, we felt very private and safe, breakfasts in the morning were superb, a large gym was downstairs, and a small office area on our main floor (which we hardly ever used because we sat in the jacuzzi most of the day). We asked if we could use a golf cart as the property was fairly empty and they graciously obliged. We used it to go down to the beach during the days when it was really sunny (there were a few days of rain over the period we visited). We had lunch at Smokey's which is really nearby and tasty. Try their lobster sandwich or chicken curry roti. We also dined at Straw Hat and had a superb dinner there. Their wine selections are actually impressive. We stayed in one night and ordered from the Sheriva menu. We had rack of lamb and grilled lobster. Chef Sherry Ann is brilliant!! The villa meal was one of the best meals we had while on the island. We decided to rent a car and explored the island a bit. (Taxis are quite expensive on Anguilla). Shoal Bay East is absolutely breathtaking and we had a cheap and cheerful lunch at Uncle Ernies on the beach. The only downside of our quick getaway was that it rained alot and we didn't get to do more exploring on this lovely little island. We left feeling ready to take on the world, or in this case, the British Virgins. I read other reviews that unless you rent a full villa, you get shoddy treatment. But we definitely didn't experience that. The staff was above and beyond courteous, the rooms were spotless every day and we couldn't have been happier with our short stay at the Sheriva. I can honestly say that Sheriva was an outstanding choice and we hope to return with family and possibly rent a full villa.

Room Tip: The loft room which is upstairs on its own is superb. Has the best views and offers most privacy.

My wife and I stayed at the Anguilla Sheriva for a winter get-away. First, the Sheriva van that was suppose to meet us at the airport was not there. Our flight had arrived late and the driver did not wait for us. At check-in we were asked what had happened to us. We explained that our flight had arrived late and that we had to complete some custom forms before entering the country. Their response was, "Oh,our driver was looking for you but he never found you." We did not receive an apology nor were we offered any kind of compensation.
Then, we were escorted down a series of stairs to our one bedroom villa where we were offered chilled towels, rum punch and very small tray of canapes. This was a nice welcome but nothing we hadn't experienced at other 5 star properties. The refrigerator had been stocked with the items we had requested (via a form). Our villa included one bedroom, a large bathroom with a dressing room, another bath, kitchen, livingroom, and patio with a private pool. Every morning we were served breakfast on the patio by the staff. Of course, this was nice but again nothing that we hadn't experienced before. After our vacation ended we found out that is we wanted the pool heated we should of requested it and paid an additional fee. We haven't had to do this anywhere my wife and I have stayed.
Second, when my wife and I wanted to visit other hotels we would take the Sheriva Van which we found to be very inconvenient! Other guests that had rented larger villas had their own golf carts. When we wanted to be taken or picked up anywhere we would have to make a call and then WAIT for the van to arrive. Everywhere we went I tipped the driver generously. That got old very fast.
Third, we were told that we had signing rights at Cap Juluca if we wanted to eat or purchase anything there. However, when I tried to sign for dinner and when my wife tried to purchase an item in the gift store we were told that they had never recieved anything from Sheriva authorizing our signature and that we had to pay with cash or a credit card. We were VERY EMBARASSED on both occassions!
Fourth, one evening as my wife got dressed she saw a GIANT roach (the size of my hand) on the wall. She screamed and was extremely frieghtened. I killed it with my shoe and assured her there would be no other bugs to worry about. She didn't sleep the entire night. The next day we showed the roach remains to the management. They said that these kind of roaches were common in Anguilla and that they would have to get the villa sprayed. Again, no compensation. The very next day my wife, while bathing in the tub, found ants crawling on top of the tub and on her towel. By that time we had been so disenchanted we decided to point them out to the cleaning staff only and to forget showing them to the management.
In conclusion, our vacation was extremely disappointing. It surely was not a vacation of a lifetime!!!! We definitely would not recommend staying at the Sheriva. However, after visiting the Viceroy and Cap Julcia my wife and I would highly recommend either resort.

Room Tip: Request 2 or more bedrooms to get optimal service.

Overall, our 6 day stay was nice. The property is very private, quite beautiful and the staff very friendly. However, the amenities (namely the golf carts) were not available to all guests. We were told that only the "higher paying" guests had use of their own private golf cart. My husband and I were in a one bedroom Villa which, according to them, did not qualify us as a "higher paying" guest. Of course this made us feel like
second class citizens even though we had paid a good sum of money for the one bedroom Villa. In order for us to take advantage of the adjoining property (Cap Juluca) we had to walk or wait for their van to take us there. We found this extremely inconvenient! The other thing that was lacking was housekeeping. Overall, the Villa was quite clean but the staff rarely cleared off our headboard/nightstand. After a long day out & about we would come back to coasters, water glasses and pop cans left on the headboard/stand in our bedroom. In addition, all the dishes we dirtied throughout our stay were hand washed by a staff member in our kitchen. After wondering for some time why the dishes were hand washed, we finally came to the conclusion that the staff did not know how to use the Villa's dishwasher. In addition, the website mentioned a private chef - insinuating that every Villa had it's own chef. However, there is only one chef on the entire property that cooks for all the guests. Lastly, there was no oven in our Villa and the pool was not heated. I could not withstand the cold water temperature in the pool so I used the heated jacuzzi instead. Overall, the daily rates at Sheriva indicate that this is a high end property. However, not all guests are treated equally and if you want top notch service stay in a Villa that has at least 2 or more bedrooms.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences while at Sheriva.
With all due respect, our management would like to respond to some of the statements made.

With regards to golf carts, the tone hints at feeling discriminated against for not having a private golf cart. Due to the selected accommodation category, a 1-bedroom grand villa pool suite, a golf cart was not included. However, a convenient and complimentary beach shuttle service was included in the 1-bedroom package. On several occasions I personally witnessed a member of staff offer to drive you to Maundays Bay beach, but you replied that you preferred to walk due to the beautiful weather. We aplogize if there was any miscommunication.

Our private villa guests have in fact been afforded the sole use of a golf cart, as they have rented an entire 7- or 8-bedroom villa versus a 1-bedroom suite. Our service is not discriminatory in any way, but rather akin to the comparison of coach and first class in a typical air carrier situation. The airline caters to all passengers, however, the first class passengers receive a more comprehensive service based on the fare paid. Such is the case at most hotels and private villas. This is in no way discriminatory.

Secondly, we are perplexed that one would come to the conclusion that our housekeepers do not know how to use the dishwasher. Our housekeeping staff is efficient and quite adept in using all of the electronics and equipment at Sheriva. However, as we strive to be as environmentally conscious at possible, we prefer to have dishes hand-washed versus utilizing our dishwasher for 2 or 3 dishes. This saves both water and energy. On an island such as ours, we must conserve both of these luxuries wherever possible. The tightly covered bottled beverages were left untouched by housekeeping, as they felt it indicated potential future use. We apologize for coming to this conclusion prematurely.

Thirdly, we do, in fact, have multiple chefs on the property and not just one chef that cooks for all the guests.

Lastly, we have never advertised heated pools at Sheriva as a standard amenity. We are happy to heat pools for our guests upon request for an additional charge, as we have done many times in the past. If this was request was made, we would have been more than happy to oblige.

We have had glowing reviews by many guests (from honeymooners to couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary) enjoy stellar service in our 1-bedroom pool suites. We currently have guests in-house in such suites and they are extremely pleased. We are truly sorry that you were not 100% satisfied while at our property, and are also disappointed that you opted not to voice your concerns to us in our Service Excellence Questionnaire prior to checking-out. Thank you once again for your comments and the opinion that our property is very private, quite beautiful and our staff, very friendly.

Absolute Perfection
We just returned from a seven night stay at Sheriva. Sheriva is very, very special for so many reasons. Upon arrival in Anguilla we were met at the ferry terminal by a charming taxi driver, with a spotless huge van, who told us he drives for all the Sheriva guests. Very nice start. Upon arrival at Sheriva we were offered a complimentary upgrade. The guests had changed their dates by a week and the upgraded villa was available. Otherwise Sheriva was full. Our villa was breathtaking. Upon entering our villa we were offered chilled towels and served rum punch & regular punch (for our son), along with an unbelievable display of shrimp and salmon canapés, crackers and cheese, and a huge fresh fruit platter. When our luggage arrived we were asked if we needed any help unpacking! There were beautiful flower arrangements in the rooms and the kitchen was stocked with different types of soda’s, water, milk, OJ and English muffins, bread, butter, cream cheese, cookies and chips. We had a huge patio with a beautiful pool and hot tub. Fabulous teak outdoor furniture; chaise lounges, table and chairs, and other chairs set about the deck. The view was amazing straight across the sea to St Marten. Each day we were served breakfast at our desired time out on our very private deck. Breakfast consisted of eggs; omelets or fried, bacon, sausage, ham, Fruit platter, French toast and pancakes, croissants, English muffins, toast, and different types of pastry.
The staff could not be more professional, accommodating and helpful. They worked incedibly hard and always smiled. Always ensuring our every need was attended to quickly and descreetly with a smile. House keeping was excellent; towels were replaced as they were used and the villa was spotless.
The rooms in our villa were incredible and huge. They were decorated beautifully and every comfort was taken into consideration. The couches, chairs, beds, towels and linens were all top quality. The bathroom was blow me away fabulous; there was a huge jetted soaking tube and a shower with duel jets/shower heads on both sides that were placed statrigically to cover your entire body. There was also a day bed for convenience. The walk in closet was complete with a couch and chairs.
The beach is at Cap Juluca and it is the best beach on the island. We were 4 mins. away and had services and signing privaleges. The chaise lounges were reserved for Sheriva guests in a certain section, and they were teak and padded, with pillow headrests.
It is evident that all of Sherivas employees take great pride in their jobs and the resort. I have never experienced this type of care in any resort in Anguilla or anywhere else for that matter. It was a seamless vacation.
I would not be surprised to see Sheriva rated as the # 1 Resort in the Caribbean in Travel & Leisure!

I went with a group of people to sheriva including 7 adults and 5 children. This is a one of a kind place. It is a villa hotel with accomations that cannot be believed. All the adults are agog at the facilities. It is like living in a palace with your own chef and staff. The views from the hot tub and pool at night looking at St Maarten are amazing. Everything was a 10. Kudos to the owners and staff as this was a one of a lifetime vacation. I have been to the top rated hotels on Anguilla and nothing compares. The ;pictures that are posted do not do the place justice. If you come with a family there is nothing like this on this island.

This review is long overdue, but better late than never! My husband and I got married at Cap Juluca in April 2008 and decided to rent out Villa Harmony and Villa Infinity for our family members. It was the most memorable experience ever. Jeanine and her team - especially Jayson - went above and beyond to make sure that every guest was pampered. The villas are modern, clean, stunning, and huge! The ammenities - laundry, in-house chef, etc made everyone feel like royalty. I had my rehearsal dinner at Villa Harmony and Jeanine and Jayson were amazing in finalizing all logistics.

To this day, our wedding guests ask us about Sheriva (for upcoming vacation ideas). The proximity to cap juluca certainly helps - the beach at Maundays Bay is fabulous. Sheriva guests have signing priveledges, so it makes it super convenient. To be honest, it was so gorgeous at Sheriva that we only made it to the beach a few times. In fact, our guests that were staying at Cap Juluca actually came to the villas to hang out they loved it so much.

I highly recommend this for a vacation, wedding, group reunion, etc. My husband and I plan on going back for one of our anniversaries with friends and family. Until then - I'll keep daydreaming about our experience!

In July of 2009, my wife and I along with five siblings and spouses stayed at the Shireva boutique resort in Anguilla.

This place is breathtaking, and the views are amazing. But it is very, very expensive. There is so much room that it’s hard to describe. I guess the best description would be that you are staying in a mansion. You have access to a golf cart that you use to get down to the beach at Cap Jaluca. They have an arrangement to use the chairs on the beach. The beach at Cap Jaluca is oh so beautiful. There are also two pools on the grounds. The only problems we encountered were that the staff would consistently turn off the air conditioners. I finally placed a not on the one in my room stating do not touch. They left it alone after that. There is also a small store down the street for supplies. They have some on the grounds but again too expensive.

The best parts about Anguilla however are the beaches and the restaurants. We had a Filet mignon with Moroccan seasonings at Vue. Outstanding. And braised lamb at Blanchard’s. Probably the finest meal I have ever had. We also ate at Pimms located at Cap Jaluca. Excellent but not as good as the two above mentioned.
Now the beaches…spectacular. Absolutely beautiful. Shoal Bay..great visability for snorkeling, with a small reef about 50 yards offshore. A beautiful beach to walk as well. Calm waters, very nice. There are also a couple of beach restaurants located there.
Anguilla is an expensive island, and if you can afford it, a great vacation. You will not be disappointed.
