The Frangipani is a beautiful family owned and managed boutique-style resort. If you like to avoid the impersonal corporate hotel scene this place is for you! It is situated in the middle of the tranquil Mead’s Bay beach. We stayed there after a busy week in St Maarten and it was a welcome breath of amazing that starts with a cool towel and glass of rum punch when you check in. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are nice, and of course it is situated right on the beach so you can spend the day swimming and lounging in the resort beach chairs either by one of the pools or on the beach (from which you can have drinks etc brought to you). The beach crew is always willing to help get you up and out on the kayaks and catamarans etc. If you would like to venture out, the reception/ concierge desk can help you arrange many different types of adventures from dining to kiteboarding to visits to surrounding islands. The entire staff was great and Scott and Shannon really made efforts to connect with all guests regularly and help them make the most of their stay with wonderful recommendations on dining and activities. That was a really nice personal touch! We were sad we left before the weekly cocktail party! The onsite restaurant (Straw Hat) is delicious but you should also walk down the beach and visit Blanchard’s Restaurant for a fancy dinner or the Beach shack for lunch/ casual dinner.

In summary Anguilla and the Frangipani were absolutely worth the long travel from California. We don’t often go to places twice but we would absolutely visit here again.

I almost want to keep Frangipani a secret, but I feel like I have to review it to let the staff know what a wonderful atmosphere they have created!

First thanks to Kenecia in reservations for her attention to detail. We requested a quiet room and 6C was perfect. We stayed in a no-view room and for the lower price, I'd highly recommend doing so. Even though the room was beautiful, we weren't in it very much, instead we were sailing, kayaking, hanging out under the palapas and floating in the infinity pool (all included). Rashon and Juman do an awesome job with the water sports!

Candice (concierge) was also wonderful answering many emails before we arrived and helping us arrange things that made our trip easy. GB Express (Capt Lyle Connor) set the tone for our trip - so friendly and hassle free. Worth every penny. A nightlife tour through Access Anguilla, also a highlight. And the best perk, Candice called for a rental car and within 30 minutes the rep was at the hotel with papers for us to sign...we were on the road exploring, only an hour after deciding to rent a car.

The hotel is centrally located in Meads Bay. We walked to many restaurants, but we enjoyed Straw Hat the most (see separate review) because of their awesome chef (Nick Dellinger). We loved the people of Anguilla the most - so hospitable and kind. They are laid back and truly love their island and want to share it, sometimes hard to find in this day and age.

Special note regarding housekeeping (thank Jennifer), our room was spotless - they clean in the morning and do another cleaning/turn down at night. And thanks to Shanecia at reception for her constant great service.

I usually don't name a lot of staff in my reviews, but in this case, the staff is outstanding. The property and beach are amazing, but the thing that makes us want to come back is the good vibe we had the entire week we were at Frangipani. We vacation in the Caribbean about twice a year and this is our favorite island to date. Many, many thanks!

Room Tip: Room 6 C if you want quiet, no-view room. It's around the back, but has high ceilings and it's own balcony. It does look out toward the corner of the parking lot but for some reason this isn't so bad...it's set back from the lot (which isn't very busy) and there are many palm trees around. Nice and peaceful.

We just returned from 7 nights at Frangipani and were blown away by this resort. We do not like big resorts and were looking for something intimate and relaxing, which is why we chose Anguilla to begin with, and why we booked with Frangipani. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, 3A. The suite was beautiful and spacious, with a full modern kitchen (granite & stainless steel) which was very well stocked. There was a dining area and comfortable living area as well as a full bathroom with washer and dryer. The bedroom was large with a comfy king size bed, beautiful bathroom with large shower. There was a safe and plenty of closet and drawer space. We had a patio off of the living room, with a table and two chairs and another patio off the bedroom with 2 lounges. There was a nice view from the patios, overlooking the landscaping, beautiful pool and gorgeous Meads Bay. Had we had an upstairs unit, or unit 1A downstairs, we would have had a better view, but we were very pleased with the easy access from our patio to the pool and beach. This was the door we used almost exclusively. The room was cleaned very well each day and again each night after we left for dinner. We joked that they must be sitting around waiting on us to leave, as we never encountered the housekeeping staff during our stay, other than one time, when I came into the room to retrieve my hair clip. Even then, the lovely woman asked if she needed to leave and come back. Everyone we encountered from front desk staff, to boutique staff, to beach boys, etc, were very friendly and accommodating. The manager, Scott and his fiancée Shannon were very gracious hosts, taking time to talk to us several times during our stay and even chatting with us when we ran into them twice off property. We enjoyed the manager's reception one night and a sunset cruise another day, along with some of the beach sports. Meads Bay is beautiful and the water was calm and enjoyable. Our favorite spot became in a lounge chair underneath a palapa, enjoying drinks from Straw Hat. It was our go to activity every day during our stay. Even when the resort was at full capacity during our stay, we never had a problem finding a spot on the beach. It was so peaceful and quiet and truly an amazing experience. This was normally a little more than we would spend on a resort as we tend to be a bit frugal, but this was well worth the splurge.

Just returned from our second stay at Frangipani, this time for eight nights in May, 2013. Can't say enough good things about this resort. We feel like family from the greeting at reception to the frequent contact with new G.M.'s Scott & Shannon throughout our stay. The owners were visiting as well and we got to meet them at the Thursday evening Manager's Cocktail Reception and chatted with them poolside and beachside throughout the week. They are such nice people and sincerely interested in making sure their guests have a great experience. The front desk seamlessly took care of all our dinner reservations throughout the week.
We decided to reserve a "Luxury No-View" room this year (we had the Queen Jr. Suite last year) to save a little money, and were not at all disappointed. We had room 6C on the second floor, which was a nicely appointed comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the rear of the property. Just steps from the beach & pool.
The Straw Hat next door was a great way to start the day with breakfast overlooking the beach and we had several cocktails and two wonderful dinners there. The staff is like an extension of Frangipani (even though I know it is a seperate entity) and we were on a first name basis. Our favorite waitress, Armel, greated us by name and remarkefly remembered us from our previous visits.
Frangipani's location in the middle of Meads Bay is the perfect spot to relax and "do nothing" , but an easy walk to the "more crowded" (if there is such a thing in AXA) beach locations on either side of Meads.Blanchard's Beach Shack and Ocean Echo (new) are great lunch spots.
I would recommend Frangipani to anyone looking for "luxury" accomodations in a small boutique setting. We will be back, hopefully for a longer stay in the future!

Room Tip: There are really no bad rooms in this 19 room resort. We paid extra for beach view jr. suite in 2012, and were just as happy with the luxury no-view room this year. Personal preference, if you can budget the extra for the view, go for it (but we really don't spend much awake time in the room).

My wife and I traveled to this Hotel on our honeymoon which felt more like a Boutique Hotel with all of its great staff and perks. When you check in they give you each a rum punch drink and water bottles that are really cool along with a beach tote bag. The water bottles came in real handy because they have a water cooler right near the beach and pool. There are not a lot of rooms but all of them that we saw were beautiful. Our room had a king bed and all the normal travel amenities like a blow dryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The room had a small refrigerator and safe along with two robes. The rooms also had direct TV from the US, it appeared so if you wanted to watch TV you could, but not sure why you would want to with such a beautiful place and beach. They have fresh towels everyday and that you can refresh at the counter near the beach and pool. The pool is an eclipse style right on the beach. There are nice pergolas with chairs on the beach that we never had to reserve or get to early. They have two power boats that offer free water skiing, wake boarding, or tubing. They also offer trips to snorkel to Sandy Island and other places if they are slow and you ask. They also have free snorkeling gear that you can borrow anytime. I took advantage of this to explore the area right near the hotel. The water is so clear with a sandy bottom. I saw some sting rays, skip jacks, and other fish along with some starfish and a barracuda, but because of the sandy bottom there is not a lot of coral or such.

The beach is one of the most beautiful i have ever seen. White pillowy sand, no seaweed or rocks on the sand or in the water. The beach has very little to now shells either. Water so clear it seemed like a swimming pool. They have house near the pool area which is right on the beach for rinsing your feet off and then you can jump in the pool or rinse the salt off. There is an onsite restaurant called the Straw Hat that offers amazing food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have great drinks and service on the beach. The restaurant has outdoor seating right on the beach elevated above it. They have a cool little bar area and show sports on the bar tv.

The resort is right in the middle of Mead's Bay Beach so you have great restaurants right in walking distance along the beach from the hotel. The hotel even gives you a battery operated lantern to use on the beach at night to walk around. There are multiple restaurants at the Massive Viceroy Resort to the north that are over priced (but have a drink and check out the sunsets at the Sunset Lounge there) and to the south is Blanchard's, Blanchard's Beach Shack and Jacalla's which are all excellent.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. This place is amazing. The staff are all great. We were there when the owner was there and the place is actually run by his son and daughter which makes it feel like a very personal stay and interaction.
