The Good: Cap Juluca's beach is one of the best we've seen in the Caribbean; it's private, clean, big and quiet. The beach service is quite good, with staff providing water, individual coolers, cold towels, sorbet, etc. The villas are also quite nice from the outside.

The Bad: The villas and the resort grounds need an update -- badly. In short, the interior of the villas have old, wooden, vented doors (without any glass) that do not keep bugs out, or cool air in (making it quite difficult to sleep); the furniture is old and not very clean; and the bathrooms (including showers and Jacuzzi) have broken/cracking fixtures. The resort grounds need a lot of maintenance, including landscaping, fixing broken walkways and stairs, and overall, general cleanup.

In Summary: Cap Juluca is good. Not great, but good. We stopped by the Viceroy and, admittedly, we would have been disappointed had we stayed at the Viceroy. If you're a beach person, the Viceroy is probably not for you, as the Viceroy's beach is extremely small and does not compare to Cap Juluca's beach.

That said, the Viceroy's hotel grounds are much more up-to-date. If Cap Juluca wants to maintain its status as a luxury Anguilla resort, it will need to invest significant resources into upgrading its villas and grounds. Hopefully, the recent transfer of ownership will result in an upgraded Cap Juluca that provides resort grounds and accommodations that are more in line with a luxury resort.

We appreciate your review. Since re-opening Cap Juluca on November 15, 2012 we have undergone an extensive renovation of all the guest rooms, villas and infrastructure. We also believe you will approve of the upgrades to the landscape and gardens.
We sincerely hope you will consider Cap Juluca for your next visit to Anguilla.

Sincerely
Director of Sales & Marketing

Cap Juluca is such a wonderful place to retreat. Staff is sincerely warm and seems to love working for the resort. The beach is fabulous and rooms are divine...especially the bathrooms! I would go again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Rooms are wonderful. There is a scheduled renovation of rooms from Aug-Oct which would be even better!

We traveled there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and just loved the beach at Cap Juluca- beautiful, quiet, private, gorgeous water and soft sand- easy to spend the day just being there, which we did happily. Our suite was extremely disappointing as the villa was extremely dated and in need of a complete remodeling. We had doors that didn't close properly, broken window panels, dirty kitchen, ants, loud surf- too loud for sleeping well, a pool with tiny insects that the staff claimed could not be removed with their skimmer...Also, all the living room and dining room furniture was covered in the same dark upholstery fabric- not inviting and not fresh and beachy at all. The staff was tired and unprofessional- ate at their desks in the main reception area- we had never seen that before in an exclusive property. The restaurants were so-so- the breakfasts were not fresh- again- not top notch which it should have been for the price paid. If we ever returned again to CJ, we would chose their most inexpensive room and just stay on the beach all day- unless of course, they have a complete facelift and revamping of their property and staff.

Room Tip: suites are too expensive for what you get in return

We have been looking forward for over a year for our trip to this property. It is our 30 Anniversary and we wanted a special place. We are booked for mid November and have just been informed that the place is not going to be open and our stay is canceled. Our flights our booked and we are locked in. The thing that really bothers me is the complete lack of concern by the hotel. No offer of any kind for our trouble or suggestion where else to stay. If this is the level of customer service that this place provides I am glad we are not staying there. Complete arrogance and disregard for guests seems to be the new policy. Avoid this place at all costs.

Cap Juluca was AMAZING!!!! My husband and I just went for a vacation, and didn't ever want to come home. The staff is excellent, the food is fantastic, and the resort is unbelievably gorgeous!! We absolutely loved every minute. We woke up with a beautiful view of the beach, crystal blue water, and St. Marteen in the distance (my husband LOVED looking at St. Marteen). Then after the 5 yard walk to the beach, you are greeted with iced down bottles of water and the most comfortable beach chairs I have ever used. Around 1 they bring you an ice cold wash cloth to cool you down, about 3 they bring you homemade sorbet, on top of all of that you can drop the flag on your umbrella at anytime for beach staff to bring a cocktail, drink, or food. From 4-6 is tea time at the main house with coffee, tea, and cookies (chocolate chip was the best). We used the paddle boards, which was so much fun. The water is so calm, we relaxed on the complimentary floats daily. The golf carts are such a fun, convenient way to get around the resort, we loved that amenity. We ABSOLUTELY WILL GO BACK TO CAP JULUCA!!! After seeing all the other resorts on the island, we were confident that we chose the best on the island.

Room Tip: All rooms are beach front, you can't go wrong with any room on the property.
