To write this review. However we believe it must be done because we felt that this property no matter how beautiful the location and the views is not up to service par of the other Four Seasons we have stayed as stayed by other reviewers. When we vacation we go all out and pretty much only stay at FS if a property is available in our location. We have traveled quite extensively and we always do luxury. We work hard for it and when we do our vacations and spend the $$$ that we do we expect a certain level of service.
This property needs a bit of Botox not a complete face lift but some work. Front desk is dark very very dark for such a Caribbean property. The front area also needs to step up the furniture game looks worn out and a bit dated. When you arrive It is almost like going into a box. They also have these really weird curtains by the sit area which makes it look just drab. We have been to many - FS Maui and Costa Rica and those lobbies make an impression as soon as you walk in. The FS Orlando makes you feel like family and their lobby is beautiful.
It is not impressive really until you make your way to the Sunset Lounge. We understand this property used to be the Viceroy and they might be hopefully going through some type of remodel in the future?
We rented one of the 4 bedroom villas - the villa was great except their was very little character to the villa it was basically a whole lot of restoration hardware looking furniture(yawn)in very muted color-ways of black/gray/white. Just there nothing spectacular. No pop of color anywhere just big old white boxes on top of each other. Non the less beautiful but just kind of basic. We had cracked mirrors and worn out mirrors in both bathrooms. Furniture in living area was just plain worn out. Yes might sound really petty but when your paying almost 7,000 a night for a living area for 6 days you want it to look nice. The outdoor pool and hot tub were nice. Thought the heat on the hot tub was never warm but cold. The views incredible.
The food not great. There is no kind of presentation flavor which one expects when the FS with food with room service by the time you get your stuff most of it is not warm. We had to send some items back because some of the dishes were not cooked all the way. Buffett meh. Your kind is stuck there for breakfast for lunch and dinner do venture out. The sunset lounge was good some really nice cocktail options. We did not eat at the lounge. Do yourself a favor and check out some of the culinary delights on the island. Vega, Mangos, the restaurant in the Malliohana. Just to name a few.
Service was a hit or a miss depending on what day. Some days service with a smile some days it just was just whatever. Some staff members were great some not so great. When staying at FS we are used to everyone greeting you by name and anytime you go by the valet and the front desk their is a greeting. Here not so much. Sometimes yes sometimes no. We get island time we really do but this won’t beyond island times it was almost like there was an indifference and some(not all) of the staff members just looked bored. The service was just blah. There was no proactive approach to anything, there was something missing from this FS property. At other FS their is always an approach to go beyond to help and plan things. The one thing that was done correctly was the arrival of nice tid bits left for my daughter and the Easter egg they brought for her on Easter Sunday. The boutique is one of the worst we have seen at FS properties. Selection poor and
we know the merchandise is already overpriced but this went beyond. No magazines, very little items needed for emergencies and not a huge selection of things. Do not forget anything but there are some grocery stores near by to pick up items if you do. Not a walking area unless doing it on the beach.
My husband I could not put a finger on what the personality of this property was, we left with a meh feeling. A feeling we have never had leaving a FS property. Unfortunately this made it into a 4 star experience for us instead of a 5 star. Hopefully things will iron out because the location on cliff, views, beach are amazing.
