This is the second time we've stayed at this property (first was 4 years ago when it was a Viceroy). It's better than ever, completely recovered from the hurricane--you'd never know it ever blew through--and one of the best hotels we've ever visited. It's not cheap but if you want to treat yourself, you cannot do much better.
It's main area with the adults-only infinity pool is beautifully designed with amazing elevated ocean views, especially good for the sunset which always gathers a crowd (my pics don't do the ocean justice - the water is stunning). Food from the Sunset Lounge is excellent incl sushi and various different asian dishes. And the cocktails go down easily (shoutout to Santiago who operated the floating pool bar with a smile and Jeison, Chad, Brusie, Speedy, Shaq and others for their equally great service)
Pro tip - we booked a 'King bed, Resort-view' room last second via AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts which includes daily breakfast for two ($85 value), early checkin/late checkout, $100 spa credit and, most importantly, a free room upgrade if available. Could've booked elsewhere for what initially seemed like a slightly lower rate BUT would strongly recommend using FHR b/c it can offer far greater value when it's all added up. When we checked in, I asked about the upgrade and we were rewarded with an enormous 1,300 sq ft 1BR King Bed suite (w living room/kitchenette) overlooking the ocean/pool with huge balcony and plunge pool, from where I am writing this review. This was an upgrade of 3-4 levels which would've easily cost another $500+ per night). We also received a complimentary fruit, wine and chocolates plate :) The rooms themselves are generally huge and beautifully decorated (some reviewer tried to denigrate the furniture by describing it as 'Restoration Hardware-like' which is accurate and, um, RH makes beautiful stuff!) Bathrooms are enormous with powerful showers and large tubs.
The service generally is over-the-top and nearly all the staff are kind, attentive, and interesting. Props to Natasha as well who effortlessly handled check-in with a warm smile and great service. Same goes for the concierge staff which arranged several dinners and the housekeeping staff which switched out mattresses for us on a moment's notice when we mentioned ours was a bit too soft/'sinky'.
The hotel is a short walk from several restaurants on Meads Bay, which is very long and wide. We ate at Blanchard's for dinner which was excellent and pricey. Recommend walking to/from on the beach as it's just 15 mins (and saves you $20 for a 4-minute taxi). HIGHLY recommend Blanchard's beach shack for lunch which serves delicious and well-priced tacos, mahi sandwiches and a wide variety of other options. Also great drinks. Breakfast buffet at Coba may not quite have the variety of some other top hotels at which we've stayed but it's really very nice and provides everything you'd generally want from a buffet, plus beautiful views of the ocean. Heading to Veya tomorrow which we visited on our last trip and loved. Recommend making reservations at some of these restaurants before you arrive as they can book up.
One more tip - book transport from/to airport with Funtime directly - saves $40/person for same exact service as booked through hotel, which uses Funtime. Also the Funtime dock is literally 100 yards from the terminal - walking may even be quicker than their shuttle.
We're moving to the Malliouhana for our last 2 nights--which was pre-planned for variety--but we'll definitely miss the Four Seasons and its staff. Thank you to everyone who made it so special. A great great stay - we'll be back!
