Upon reading all of the other reviews, some of it does hold true. Staff very attentive when making the reservation. Emails flying back and forth. They booked the transfer from St Martin on a shared shuttle. This was a huge mistake. They made it seem as if you got off the plane right on to the boat and off you go. Not true. We waited and hour and a half with screaming people that were beyond mad at these arangements. People were being kicked off boats and put on others. We had a party come in the next day and they were totally kicked off their boat and finally got a ride on a private boat. Tooks us three days with the staff to make sure we werent charged for this. Do youself a favor, hire a private boat ie. Gotcha tours pleasant and on time. The hotel itself is stunning. Staff def on island time. Took almost 15 min to get a check at the sunset lounge. Dinner at Koba just ok. My husband had chicken one night great, I had next night dry. Lots of other places to eat on the island. I made a res for Koba thru the concierge and she never bothered to make it, but we did have no problem getting a table. Also beware of the taxes. Our room quoted at 1150. per night but they add 300.00 per night in taxes. Book your own tours outside of the hotel, much cheaper. All in all we would go back but armed with more knowledge.

Room Tip: the place is so big looks like all rooms nice

Second stay at Viceroy and while it is still a fabulous hotel we had few minor issues.

Cons:
Transfer from St Marteen to shared ferry was poorly handled at the Ferry office. Staff rude, limited place to wait to board. Viceroy sponsored the new building and are aware of the issues. Traveling on busy Saturday may have contributed to the chaos. We cancelled ferry on return and took Anguilla air for same price. 8 minute flight was a pleasure.

Our room at Viceroy was lovely but showing some wear. Cabinets had chip marks and the plunge pool stone also had chips. Not a game changer but for the price of the room these small details should not be overlooked.

We were talked into going to Coba for dinner after meeting the chef at a cocktail party where he assured us he would prepare a wonderful meal. We were surprised to see the Chef departing for the evening shortly after we arrived. The maître d then tried to pass off another gentleman as the Chef we had met 1 hr earlier! The food was delicious but the bait and switch with the Chef was unnecessary

The floating trampoline was damaged by storms around Christmas and was still sitting on the beach in early March much to the disappointment of countless children. It should have been removed

Pros:
The staff at the pools and beach were phenomenal and exceeded our expectations. Other guests had written about slow service at the beach which was not our experience .Also found concierge to be greatly improved from prior visit. Could not have been more helpful. Changed ferry service, helped with car rental, and dinner reservations.

The health club offers many guest services including spin classes, boot camp, yoga etc. These seemed to be popular with the guests.

Finally the view, beach, sunsets should not be underestimated... they are fabulous, The adult pool by the sunset lounge was peaceful and spectacular. Many gathered there in the evening to enjoy the sunset with new found friends. The nightly activities were also enjoyable.
Even if you don't get a spa service at least go look at the view from the outdoor deck with infinity pool.. wow is all I can say

Anguilla insider tip:
Some of the restaurants provide car service . The price was far cheaper than a taxi and you did not have to worry about hitting a goat after a glass of wine!

We love hearing from repeat guests. We're sorry your ferry experience upon arrival wasn't flawless but are glad that the rest of your visit was as great as your previous stay. We're very happy to hear that our staff was phenomenal and exceeded expectations! Anguilla and the property are beautiful, but it's really the staff that sets us apart from the rest!

This is the place where you get pampered and appreciated. A real classy place, but made us feel welcome and at ease.

This hotel had free wifi all over including the guest rooms and BEACH. A beautiful beach on both sides of the main hotel. Guests are greeted at either beach and provided lounge chairs, umbrella, bucket of ice with water bottles, and sun screen dispensers.

Before we left for Anguilla, I had asked in a TA forum about ice availability at the hotel. We must have gotten an upgrade as our room had a FULL kitchen with GE Monogram appliances. Refrigerator with ice maker, 4 burner gas stove, micro wave/oven combo, dishwasher, toaster, pots and pans and utensils, even a full size clothes washer and dryer. Big dining room table, living room area, huge bath and bedroom and a large deck with private tile 'hot tub'.

There is a small grocery store just out the driveway and to the left a couple hundred yards. Just borrow a bike and take a backpack to get your supplies.

We had left a nice set of headphones in the room (it was so big and had so much storage) and those were promptly found and sent Fed Ex to us.

Enjoy!

We have just returned from the Viceroy and cannot wait to return. We have traveled all over the Caribbean and this island and hotel are by far our favorite. The hotel is top-notch all around. contemporary in style, very clean with a wonderful staff. There is something for everyone here, families with small children, families with teenagers (us) and couples. The rooms are spacious and clean, there are 4 pools to meet everyone's needs, a lovely long beach to walk, and a fabulous spa. There are several restaurants that serve a variety of top food- the breakfast buffet at Aleta is excellent and the lunch's in all the restaurants Sunset Lounge and Bamboo have something for everyone. They serve everything from sushi to kobe burgers to full meal lunches as well as a children's menu. Everything we were served was done as requested and was delicious. My daughter has food allergies and the staff was very attentive to her needs- they made sure that her allergies were listed on the main computer system so once we gave our room number to our server the information would show up as a constant reminder.
There is a very modern fitness center with good quality, new and varied equipment, there care spin classes, yoga classes and 'boot camp' available. There is a lovely, high end boutique, family movie nights for those with small kids, DJ's at night and many fun extracurricular activities throughout the week.
The staff is very helpful, very friendly and made sure we always felt very well taken care of.
They also have THE BEST pillows of any hotel we have ever been in!!!
The island of Anguilla has many fabulous restaurants and we had wonderful dinners off property.

We're very happy to read that Anguilla, and Viceroy Anguilla, have left such a lasting impression on you. Our many amenities and activities ensure there's always something to do - even if that something is relaxing at the beach. We look forward to your next stay!

Where to begin??? This place is absolutely gorgeous. Marble and beautiful views everywhere... The place is quite elegant but not at all stuffy. The staff is genuinely friendly and happy to do all they can to make your stay special (especially our lifestyle host Kerri and Glenesha and Janice from the kids club). The service in the restaurants can be quite slow but the food is excellent and the drinks are even better (if the Sunset Lounge has the Crispy Rice on the specials menu get it! You'll thank me!). And if you are fortunate enough to be staying in a villa, ask for villa 12. Another reviewer on here said the same thing, so we did and they were right! Very private and the closest walk to the beach from any of the ocean front villas.
We've only been home a few days but are trying to find a chance to return as soon as possible. Also, this was our first stay at a Viceroy property but it will not be our last. I look forward to trying out their other properties around the world!

It sounds like you had a great stay with us! Our property is not at all stuffy; how can it be with our guests enjoying Anguilla's azure waters all day? We are defined by our casual elegance. While all of our guestrooms are wonderful, the villas are another experience altogether.
