“Cheapest food ingredients prepared with zero skill!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

We have visited this pub on numerous occasions over a number of years but are not likely to ever return. Previous experience with the food was admittedly variable but on the whole was pretty good for a pub chain. The food this time was truly appalling and tasteless. Dressed crab which was nothing of the sort, tasteless steak and scampi which was of such poor quality that when you bit into it filled your mouth with water. We should have been forewarned when confronted by nasty sticky menu cards on the table (rather than the previous blackboard format). It was like eating in a motorway service station without the rapidity. We left much of our main course which should have been a clue that something was wrong but we were cheerily asked whether we were having a good time. We had already had to complain that our drinks had not arrived (despite the fact that the pub was nearly empty) and were dog tired ( which was why we had popped out for a quick bite to eat rather than cooking in) so we just paid and left. I agree with some of the previous reviews - the pub looks very tired and unkempt. The Prince of Wales is in a prime position overlooking a village pond but that's the only good thing it has going for it. Chef & Brewer would do well to take a trip to the White Hart in Pirbright to see how it should be done.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

Having visited this establishment on numerous occasions I was very disappointed with the food on this latest visit. Had the rib of beef. Normally excellent but today was small in size and had , what I can only describe, as globules of fat all over it. The vegetables were almost uncooked. The courgettes were virtually raw and carrots were not a lot better. Others in the party had fish pie, venison pie and duck breasts which were all Ok. Will give the Pub one more chance to improve.

“Won't be returning!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

4 of us visited Bank Holiday Monday. We used to live not far away so knew it was lovely location and good food. What a disappointment. Food arrived - fish and chips not hot. Sandwiches just about acceptable. Baked potato at almost £6 was a little larger than a boiled egg so that went back. The replacement was a little bigger, microwaved and soggy. The whole garden was unkempt, grass needed cutting, the few umbrellas were damaged. Quite different to how we remembered it before. Shame!

“Charmless Personified!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

After a truly terrible dining experience 2 years ago I vowed never to eat here again, but popped in for a drink yesterday after a long dog walk. Even this brief experience was pretty miserable, breathtakingly arrogant and totally charmless staff was enough to put me in a bad mood. A place like this doesn't deserve it's customers. Plus the wine list is absolutely awful....go elsewhere please!

“Decent but could be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

Had lunch here after walking our dogs. The pub is lovely inside but we sat outside. Had a fish platter, which was very nice, to start which included smoked makerel, salmon and crab. Then sausage and mash, gourmet burger and wild boar burger. As some other reviewers have suggested, the burgers are not homemade and are average at best. The sausage and mash was decent enough but not amazing either. Beer and wine was OK as well - worth visiting but could be much better. Service very good.
