After a truly terrible dining experience 2 years ago I vowed never to eat here again, but popped in for a drink yesterday after a long dog walk. Even this brief experience was pretty miserable, breathtakingly arrogant and totally charmless staff was enough to put me in a bad mood. A place like this doesn't deserve it's customers. Plus the wine list is absolutely awful....go elsewhere please!

Had lunch here after walking our dogs. The pub is lovely inside but we sat outside. Had a fish platter, which was very nice, to start which included smoked makerel, salmon and crab. Then sausage and mash, gourmet burger and wild boar burger. As some other reviewers have suggested, the burgers are not homemade and are average at best. The sausage and mash was decent enough but not amazing either. Beer and wine was OK as well - worth visiting but could be much better. Service very good.

I never feel strongly enough to write online reviews but this place changed that.

We went here on a nice Saturday bike ride with a pub lunch. We'd heard good things about it so were looking forward to some nice quality food.

We both had burgers (one boar burger and one regular). Usually, even if the worst pubs you cant go wrong with a burger but now I know better. They were clearly microwaved, hard, dry, tasteless and below the standard of a supermarket packaged one. The chips, as mentioned in someone else's review were disgusting due to lack of clean oil

The price was also gastro pub level

This food we had here was disgusting. The pub is very pretty, as is the location. A real shame - we will never return

This is a chain pub being part of the Chef & Brewer group. Ordered from the lunch time menu which seems good value. Food arrived very quickly and was piping hot, the mashed potato was like wallpaper glue with a very unplesant skin on top and a distinctive powdered taste - not nice, my steak pie was okay, pastry on the thick side but the fresh veggies were fresh and well cooked. Portions are very generous. Our waitress was attentive and charming. This pub is resonable value but not as posh as it thinks.
