Visit Claremont a lot as I'm lucky to live close by. Always lovely to walk around lake and feed wildlife and If feeling more energetic to walk up steps to reach views over Claremont. Been coming here for years and always end up in tea shop. Nice friendly staff and good choice of lunches and of course cake. On a negative side if you are not a national trust member i feel the entrance fee is a bit steep.

Since I visited in 2012, they've done a refurb in the cafe and it's now a very pleasant place to have a drink - you don't have to pay admission fees to use the cafe...and they have free Wifi in there too. If it was closer to home, this could become one of our regular coffee haunts.

This time, I had to use my wheelchair to get all round the lake - there's a good surface to the path, and it makes a pleasant, if limited walk. I would love to have been able to get up the hill to the Belvedere area, but that wasn't possible in the wheelchair.

We particularly enjoyed watching the garishly coloured squawking flocks of Ring-necked Parakeets flying around the place.

It's a pleasant place, but probably not worth making a long journey, only if you're in the area.

An interesting Landscape Garden worth a visit. Probably better on a nice summer day rather than a grey autumn day. Some of the paths were a bit muddy in places where a wheelbarrow full of gravel could easily have sorted the problem. The Belvedere was not open when I visited.

NT price of £7.50 much too high for this property. Once cannot get anywhere near its only interesting feature (the Belvedere Tower), and is little more than a large park with a lake. Usually one has free access to these places.

The website states that visitors who have travelled by train to get there can have coffee at a reduced price (£1), but cafe staff could not do this and referred me to the kiosk. Why advertise this sort of gimmick if one cannot easily obtain the reduction? (And why should NT reduce the price anyway?)
