“A great place to relax”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

We are a couple with three children (ages 12, 10 and 8) who have now visited four years in a row: we come back each year because it is so fabulous. The rooms are light and spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast in the garden is delightful and generous. There are facilities and space to occupy guests for days at a time, as well as many things to see and do in the region. The Table d'Hôte is exceptionally good, and exceptionally good value. The hosts are courteous, relaxed and obliging in every way. We are already looking forward to our visit next year.

When we arrived at La Nesquiere, I thought I had arrived at the chateau in "A Good Year." The white washed walls, the vines in bloom on the arbor, the little chickens running around, were all what I had envisioned. We were greeted with such warmth and friendliness. Speaking primarily English, it was also most helpful to stay where English was spoken very well. We weren't so lost in translation as we had been for two weeks prior. La Nesquiere was our last stop before returning home, and despite the unexpected rainy weather the whole visit, it didn't dampen our final days. It was nice after being out all day in some pretty nasty weather, to return to our beautiful, romantic room to relax, nap, have an indoor picnic and wine. I loved the antiques and the ability to spread out in what I consider a huge room for France.
If you haven't watched the movie, "A Good Year," be sure and view it and then go visit La Nesquiere. Isabelle, her father, and the dogs will give you a most wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mandarine room. It is very large and roomy for two people. A couple and one child...

We ( a couple with a 2 year old child ) stayed in the Mandarine room for 4 nights in April.

The room is very nice and decorated with antiques. The colour theme was also quite different and nice. It is quite a big room and it includes a table and sofa/bed which was quite nice to read on after being out all day. There was also a small "kitchen-wardrobe" which was good enough to make some simple stuff and to warm up the child food. There was plenty of space for the child's cot.

All in all the place was quite enjoyable. Our son liked very much that there were dogs, cats, chickens and horses in the farm.
It was quite easy to find as our GPS had it on the list of "streets" of the village ( it is an old Tomtom so I guess most newer models will have it too) and it took exactly one hour to drive from the Marseilles Airport.

Good breakfast served by Isabelle the owner and nice villages around, also quite nice to visit Avignon. I specially liked Arles although that is like one hour away. Also the

The only negative point I can see is that the area is not very lively. We were there during easter and it was pretty much dead in the villages around ( the weather was pretty bad which also makes things look a bit gloomer). I am sure however that this is a really nice place to be during the summers.

I cannot say it was a remarkable place but it was quite pleasant and if you don't mind driving around there are plenty of small villages to visit. The owner was very nice too and helped with useful tips about activities.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your your opinion.
You're right, the weather was so bad! I can understand that it was difficult to enjoy your stay.

Looking forward to welcoming you during spring or summer.

Sincerely

Do please read all the reviews which are very positive. Cleanliness or lack thereof is our only complaint. Literally everything was in need of a good wash; dishes and cupboards included. The pool is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful. Centrally located to visit the surroundings and near a lovely village with a good market and eating places.

We stayed as a family (with 3 young boys aged 6, 4 and 1) in June this year and thought it was amazing. The property itself is beautiful with lovely roses in it's rambling garden. The breakfast was delicious with homemade jams underneath rose bushes. Fantastic heated pool and very friendly and helpful owners. We were made to feel very at home here. Excellent.

This place is well worth seeking out - and you do need to do that; we eventually found it after asking some locals for directions. Off the beaten track, but within easy driving distance of Avignon and the pretty villages of the Luberon region, this is a peaceful retreat. To get there from Avignon take the D942 to Carpentras turning onto the D16 at Entraigues and then left onto the D38 at Althen des Paluds. La Nesquiere will eventually be found on the right.

Driving into a garden full of tumbling rose bushes and honeysuckle sets the tone for the rest of the property which is a large, rambling farmhouse filled with old furniture and bowls of flowers. The owners are friendly and helpful and the rooms very comfortable. We ate there on our first night (evening meals are only served on certain nights) and were treated to delicious Provencale cooking with orange wine, and olives, as an aperitif.

Our room was large and comfortable although the bathroom was rather small. There are extensive grounds with a children's play area, swimming pool and loungers by a stream. Breakfast was a relaxed affair served in the pretty garden amongst the roses.

  • Liked — Comfort and peaceful.
  • Disliked — The bathroom.
