Description: The Bruce Arms pub sits to the north side of the historic market square in Masham, North Yorkshire, offering real ales and a selection of spirits, lagers and wines along with homemade food. Our huge beer garden has a spectacular outlook over the River Ure and Lower Wensleydale, that’s why we call the Bruce Arms ‘the pub with a view’!We also have a children’s play area within the beer garden, while parts of it can be hired for free for outdoor events such as music concerts, theatre and dance shows.

“Yummy!”
Reviewed April 16, 2014 via mobile

Had egg and chips which was gorgeous. Nicest chips I've ever had by far. Woman at the bar was really kind except our order came up to £18 and I gave a £20. She gave me 20p change. She gave me just bread instead of bread and butter when I asked for bread. She was very kind and the restaurant was very nice too. Sadly there is not enough room for a wheelchair so we had to sit in the first chairs we could find.

The pub has such a. Wonderful atmosphere now that Sharon and Ken are back in Masham (previous owners of the bay horse). Serving lovely home cooked food too now, very happy with the over all feel and service in the pub! Brilliant to have as a local.

“A beer in the evening”

A welcoming fire greets you in the Bruce Arms with a smile from the staff. Only had a drink here but would pop in again for a pint

“Probably won't dine here again”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

We stay in Masham a number of times a year, and on a rainy cold Saturday evening around 7pm decided to eat here. Place felt as tho it was trapped in the 70's, no cosy feel, staff were welcoming - but spent more time telling us what food they didn't have available! I chose lasagne, which came in its own dish, clearly pre cooked and just aired thro, fairly tasteless - and for some reason they served with mushy peas!? Hubby and eldest son went for fish and chips, both commented that the standard was far lower than the fish shop over the square, youngest enjoyed his scampi. They all enjoyed the theakstons beer, but the wine choice was poor, just cheap stuff I would avoid at the supermarket. We had to pay for meal up front, probably because folk object to the quality? We will come back, but in the summer when we can sit outside, and just enjoy a drink. Ps onion rings were superb!
