Description: The Bruce Arms pub sits to the north side of the historic market square in Masham, North Yorkshire, offering real ales and a selection of spirits, lagers and wines along with homemade food. Our huge beer garden has a spectacular outlook over the River Ure and Lower Wensleydale, that’s why we call the Bruce Arms ‘the pub with a view’!We also have a children’s play area within the beer garden, while parts of it can be hired for free for outdoor events such as music concerts, theatre and dance shows.

“Sampling the Local Beers”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

I had the beef and ale pie. It was the best I have ever had. Succulent beef, no fat or gristle and tasty gravy. My wife had lasagne and salad. Equally good although we commented on the feedback sheets that stronger cheese could have been used.

“Fab food and pleasant staff”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We called here en route to the Lake District in March. We were made very welcome indeed by the staff and the locals.
We chose to have the two course menu and cannot fault any of the meals and they also had some great real ales on offer.
Hubby had gammon, I had rump steak and two others had fish and chips. One opted for the LARGE size. It was a whoppa! but he thoroughly enjoyed it and managed to finish.
The pub may be dated as some other reviews suggest but we like that type of pub.
Cannot fault our visit and will try to go back some day.

“Nice little pub for Sunday lunch and Black sheep Ale”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Had a decent Sunday lunch and couple of pints of Black sheep before a trip to the brewery. Very friendly staff and quick service. Beef was a bit fatty and portions not on the BIG side.

“Mothers Day at The Bruce Arms (10.03.13.)”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We had a lovely time with our kids. The ambience was smashing, just alike a proper Pub should, great seating, by a nice hot open fire (it was a really cold day too!). A nice welcome from the bar staff, food ordered and came in good time. The food was excellent, big portions, very tasty and we all cleared our plates, ready for an equally delicious desert. We will definitely be coming back again (we live in Leeds)! Thanks also to Merlin the adorable Collie who kept our kids entertained and his owner! See you again soon!

“Would visit again”
Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

Good beer, good food, honest staff.
Ate here with a groupon voucher. Food was really nice. Service was friendly and quick.
We left and within minutes of leaving had a telephone call on my phone (booked under my mobile number) to ask if we had left a mobile phone. In fact my husband had left his mobile on a window sill and had not realised. Honest and very nice place and people. Thank you!
