We stayed at the King's Head in masham and had a fantastic time. The hotel is great and a really welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Our room was nice and comfortable and the bar staff were fabulous. We will definitely be visiting again

We stayed in the hotel as part of a wedding party with pre-booked rooms. Our room was in a converted barn bordering the courtyard, which means that we could hear every single word from the conversations in the smoking area and from people crossing the yard, which made trying to get to sleep quite difficult. The room itself was very spacious and nice, but it was so high up under the roof that several collar beams were crossing the room at head height. It means that when walking around the room you either had to duck constantly or keep bent over like a pinguin. Absolutely hilarious, I have no idea how the owners got away with such a conversion, it surely must flout some building regulations. The "free" WiFi required a lengthy registration with a company that would use your details for swamping you with adverts. The fact that many English now drink good Italian-style coffee hasn't yet been noticed by the hotel, and their coffee is a weak brownish liquid in a glass jug on a hot plate, like back in the 70ies. Finally, the concept that staff could be friendly to guests and maybe even try a smile once in a while is not familiar to the owners. Summing up, we tried to see the funny side of it, but when we come to Masham again, which really is a charming place, we will stay at some other place.

Room Tip: the courtyard at the back is noisy at night

Pound for pound , the best hotel I've stayed in . Fantastic set up, great selection of drinks in the bar and a great menu which we didn't try but read fantastic.
We had a renovated cottage room out the back , big oak beams, beds were great , and the bathroom was gorgeous. Have to mention the shower , hot , powerful, and non stop ,struggled to get out it was that nice .... almost a head massage lol.
Staff were super friendly , chatty and helpful. Will be using as my regular "digs" from now on when I'm working in the area.
Great work Kings Head , see you again soon

Visited with family on gorgeous sunny day and sat in courtyard. Lovely waitress served us. Long wait on starters, missing three items on mixed grill, one on steK and wrong fish meal came out for my son. The waitress sorted all quickly but to get 75% of our orders wrong not great. However my fillet steak, cooked rare was absolutely gorgeous, tender and to die for. The food we actually received great. Great desserts and lovely location.

Dropped in here for lunch as the menu was extensive and reasonably priced and despite the bar being pretty empty (Tuesday) we had to wait over half an hour for our food. The garlic bread was missing from our order and what was described on the menu as a dressed salad accompanying the main course was merely some course cabbage type dried up substance that clearly came from a packet.
My main was just warm and seemed to have been waiting in the kitchen for some time before being delivered to the table. Despite the staff being friendly and inviting they let us down badly on this occasion and as there are other choices in the area, we are unlikely to return.
