Location is very good situated in the centre of Masham. Staff are friendly & a varied menu is on offer. We found service slow, waiting 10 minutes to replenish drinks. Liqueur coffees were cold & had to be re made.

Ended up here by accident, in a way, because a holiday let we were supposed to be at had let us down badly. In such circumstances, couldn't hope for a better resolution. Lovely meal, really helpful, attentive and sympathetic staff. Went out of their way to try and get me a decent deal at extremely short notice. Nice room, and a hearty breakfast. Excellent value, and the all important human touch was the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: Overlooking the village square is probably most scenic, but might be noisy. Beware of heavy bags as there are lots of stairs!

Very friendly and attentive staff, room a bit small but served our needs. A problem with one meal was quickly and apologetically remedied. Excellent breakfast that prepared us well for the coming day.

We stayed 1 night at this nice old Inn. We ate lunch in the bar which was excellent - very hefty portions. We stayed in a room at the back of the inn which was large and clean if in need of a bit of a refresh, but otherwise a comfortable night. We had cooked breakfast in the morning - would rate this 3/5, nothing special but not bad. Service was good throughout and location was fantastic. Would recommend.

The choice of Masham for a couple of nights away from the kids had nothing whatsoever to do with there being two very good ale breweries within staggering distance of the hotel, honest! Masham is also a great base for visiting other towns in the Dales.
We booked in mid-afternoon. The welcome seemed a bit abrupt, and I did feel a bit like we were being processed and moved on, rather than being greeted as valued guests.
We had expected to be in a room upstairs, but instead found ourselves being pointed in the direction of Room 19, "The Tack" in what seems to be a converted stable.
The room was really nice and very clean, if rather chilly (this was February, and it was 3'c outside). There was an oil filled radiator which had the room warm within an hour or so.
The bed was firm but comfortable, the pillows a bit lumpy, but overall I had a good night's sleep. My wife says she'll bring her own pillows next time.
The bathroom was very clean. The shower was really powerful, but the screen was easily knocked, and swung out freely, and as a result flooded the floor. Even back in place it still leaked out a bit. Be warned!
In the hotel, apart from the initial greeting, the staff were all very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant, service was fairly quick, and the food was good. I loved the curry served in Indian Tiffin tins! In the morning we had the full breakfast, which set us up for the day - we didn't need to eat again until evening!
Overall I'd recommend staying here, we both enjoyed it, and would come again.

Room Tip: Ask if you can have one of the outside rooms, they have extra character.
