We stayed 1 night at this nice old Inn. We ate lunch in the bar which was excellent - very hefty portions. We stayed in a room at the back of the inn which was large and clean if in need of a bit of a refresh, but otherwise a comfortable night. We had cooked breakfast in the morning - would rate this 3/5, nothing special but not bad. Service was good throughout and location was fantastic. Would recommend.

The choice of Masham for a couple of nights away from the kids had nothing whatsoever to do with there being two very good ale breweries within staggering distance of the hotel, honest! Masham is also a great base for visiting other towns in the Dales.
We booked in mid-afternoon. The welcome seemed a bit abrupt, and I did feel a bit like we were being processed and moved on, rather than being greeted as valued guests.
We had expected to be in a room upstairs, but instead found ourselves being pointed in the direction of Room 19, "The Tack" in what seems to be a converted stable.
The room was really nice and very clean, if rather chilly (this was February, and it was 3'c outside). There was an oil filled radiator which had the room warm within an hour or so.
The bed was firm but comfortable, the pillows a bit lumpy, but overall I had a good night's sleep. My wife says she'll bring her own pillows next time.
The bathroom was very clean. The shower was really powerful, but the screen was easily knocked, and swung out freely, and as a result flooded the floor. Even back in place it still leaked out a bit. Be warned!
In the hotel, apart from the initial greeting, the staff were all very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant, service was fairly quick, and the food was good. I loved the curry served in Indian Tiffin tins! In the morning we had the full breakfast, which set us up for the day - we didn't need to eat again until evening!
Overall I'd recommend staying here, we both enjoyed it, and would come again.

Room Tip: Ask if you can have one of the outside rooms, they have extra character.

We stayed here for 2 nights this week. We found it to be a charming little hotel and stayed through the archway in what, presumably, is an old stable block. Nice and warm, comfortable and clean, nice bathroom.

We ate their the first night and sampled some real ales - all of the staff were efficient, pleasant and attentive. We ate there the first night and were pleasantly fed in a nice warm room with a log fire.

We will be back as it was good value for money and efficiently run. Good stuff!

Overall not a bad place and its great to have some rooms allowing dogs. the location is lovely, central with parking just over the road. its a shame that details of service don't quite meet expectations - no heating in room on arrival in February, cobwebs on wall above bed and needed vacuuming underneath bed, bare wiring on heated towel rail, no pen at reception, staff not confident of breakfast price, bathroom extractor ineffective but very noisy, missing handle on drawer. for £94 charge I think this is poor.

The kings head is superb we came in for a evening meal and the menu was very extensive and the specials board spoiled for choice. The waiter who served us was great always making sure we were ok and we managed to have great rapport with him. The food was delicious and I can't wait to come back. Masham is a beautiful place in itself and the kings head is it's gem.
