“LOVELY LITTLE PUB !”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We stayed here on a Sunday evening on our way back down from Scotland. The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely room, with a MASSIVE bed - very comfortable. ( a word of warning - don't book this room if steps are difficult for you ) Everything was clean and fresh.
We ate here on the Sunday evening, lovely menu and very tasty food. Breakfast was just as good, with perfectly poached eggs for me.
We have not actually stayed in a pub before - usually use hotels; but would not hesitate to stay here again if we were in the area.
Well done Bay Horse !!

We had such a great stay our dog is sulking because we brought him home!

Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. It had recently been refurbished. We could not fault anything during our stay. The staff were friendly, hard working, and attentive. The food was delicious.and we ate here on both nights of our stay - can't imagine the food would be better anywhere else.

I have booked to come back with my brothers in October and if I don't bring Denzil I will be in big trouble!!

Just returned from a 3 day stay at the bay horse and must say the staff and the food are really really good
Only problem is the noise from the pub in the evenings its really loud and a early night at the weekend just aint gonna happen ,if you want to party have some beers and stay up late this is the place for you ,it is the most popular pub in masham without a doubt and you need to b eaware of this when you book the rooms are small but nice and clean just a little tlc needed ,but overall i would go back here no doubt just for the food and lovely freindly staff may be try to avoid rooms 2 and 3 as these are directly below the bar

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 2 and 3 at week ends

Stayed for the weekend at this pub and it is excellent. The bedroom was well furnished, the bed huge and, although the shower was a little tempremental temperature-wise, it was very cosy. The main plus point is the food, which was first-class throughout, from steak cooked to perfection to a nice choice of fruit before a delicious Full English breakfast. The fact that so many locals seemed to be eating there speaks for itself. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
It is a pub, with a mix of customers, one or two who were a bit boisterous, but that didn't bother us and didn't detract from the experience. Brilliant!!

The hotel is in the centre of town so you need to sort your parking...but it's fairly easy. You're within walking distance of the Theakston Brewery and it's tour and there are also a couple of great butchers in the town. Fabulous place to start a tour of the Dales and easy to get to Middleham and the gallops. Enjoy this pub..... but don't have a room at the front

Four of us have just returned from a 2 night bargain break at the Bay Horse at Masham where we found the new owners of the place working very hard to refurb the place whilst at the same time try to make a living. Obviously, because of the work going on (new carpet being fitted) the place was a little bit upsidedown, but that didn't matter to us, because the welcome we received was warm and friendly.
We had a cosy, clean but compact room with en-suite, The bed was so cosy we had one of the best nights sleep in a long time. The breakfast was excellent using nice local ingredients, it was just missing a few baked beans which would have pleased the men.
We made a big mistake and ate at the King's Head on our first night, the food was awful which we later realised was because it was Chef & Brewer frozen crap, we should have stayed at the Bay Horse because having sampled their food, lunch and dinner - we couldn't fault it. Everything was good and fresh, and the chips were real which really impressed my brother in particular.
We would recommend this place and certainly would stay there again.

We ate here last Saturday night and had a very good meal. The beer was excellent as you would expect in Masham and we ate off the specials board and both had sea bass. The portion size was good and the sea bass was well cooked . This seems to be trying to combine a locals pub and a good food pub combining standard pub food and some more adventurous fare .hWe had good service and the staff were helpful and pleasant .
