“Good in some part and disappointing in others”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2011

The good bit was the restaurant, superb and the food was almost as good as the excellent service. You could not fault that.
However, we had a family room at the Gytan, which is away from the main hotel but not too far and expected it to be quite good. It was in fact quite basic, if not rather rustic for the money they want. We stayed in guest houses for 100 euros the week before and had much better value for money on that front, 157 euros for what was not so special a room left us feeling perplex. Breakfast is OK, nothing to report home about, and in fact you feel like staying in a Travelodge but paying quite a lot for it. I would recommend other places to stay for a family, this was overall a disappointing experience.

The location was fantastic - centrally located if you are visiting all the D-Day beaches. The seaside rooms were wonderful - quaint and spacious. The resturaunt had great food and a nice breakfast and lovely views of the sea.

Our family of four did not get a seaside room, but had to stay across the street in a seperate building that was an annex. The room was cramped with very steep stairs to a loft area. We had to keep the window open all night because of the musty smell. The shower stall was so small that you could not turn around in it.

Nothing much to say about the hotel that hasn't been said by other reviewers. Nice position right on Juno beach. Good base camp for exploring any D-day-site. Rooms fair. Restaurant more than fair. Breakfast poor. Staff very nice. Overall, fairly good value. Location, as said, excellent for excursions. Wifi, which is free, worked in some parts of the hotel. If wifi is important, you must have a room facing the street. Entrance to the rooms (at least our room) was through the restaurant. Felt a bit like an old fashioned "gasthaus" where you slipped up to your room behind the bar... or something like that. Not a problem - just a little bit odd.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are very nice. Try get one of those.

We enjoyed three nights in our triple room overlooking Juno beach. Great room. Spacious, two balconies and clean. Excellent food with lots of choice for a half board arrangement. Very busy but still attentive and friendly. Excellent value for money and would definitely stay here again.

We were sitting in a restaurant and had decided that we just didn't want to travel anymore that day and saw the sign for the hotel down the beach. I walked down there and asked for a room. I was then told to follow the maid and we went off down the road a few hundred meters and then up two flights of stairs to the most divine little beach front two story room. it had a lovely balcony overlooking the boardwalk and beach. It was a warm and inviting room and I was absolutely thrilled to have found it. I would love to go back again and spend more time there.

Stayed for 1 night returning to Dieppe after holiday in France
Never visited Normandy before so chose this hotel as on the beach
Family room 159Euro B&B
When we arrived the hotel has a lovely restaurant recently refurbed so we expected a nice room . After checking in , we were told our accomodation was in another building set behind the houses on the road behind the beach road. A little creative in the hotel I think.
Room was good - downstairs area with 2 singles then stairs up to mezzannine with double bed. Small adequate shower room
Public Rooms / Breakfast room was a bit motel like but OK.
We ate at restaurant in evening - very good
Visited Juno Beach museum & took guided tour which was very interesting
Also visted war cemetary nearby

wonderful location, smart and modern bedrooms and a stunning restaurant. Every table was taken every night we were here and it was obvious why.. not just hotel guests but clearly people travel from afar to eat here. Varied menu, superb staff and just the most fantastic cuisine. Beautifully prepared dishes and every one we sampled a winner!! We will long remember out stay here and can't wait to be back. What a gem!
