We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a packaged self-guided walking trip. The hotel sits up the hill from the town (about a 5 minute walk), looking over the valley and down toward the sea. We had a room with a balcony and enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the view. The dining terrace also has a spectacular view. Dinner in the restaurant was also excellent. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony are worth the extra cost, unless you plan to spend all of your time away from t...

Whilst the hotel was adequate for the price we payed, I have given it a low rating for the rude and discourteous manner with which the hotel manager treated us immediately before we retired to bed. I suffered a sleepless night as a result. You won't have 'sweet dreams' in a place where you know you are going to be greeted with further confrontation before breakfast.

We stopped for a drink en route from Calacuccia to Porto and were so blown away by the view from the rear terrace that we stayed for lunch. The food was excellent; a goats' cheese omelette for myself and Corsican salad (tasty salad ingredients plus grilled rounds of goats' cheese) for my wife. We shared a perfectly grilled trout with rice for main. Total bill with a couple of cokes was 39 euros.

A very unprofessional establishment. Beware of their old rooms! We are a tour operator who visited the hotel to establish its suitability for our tours. The owner was rushed and could not be bothered. On our return to our office the hotel was asking for a different deposit to that agreed on when we reserved rooms in person for our group. Our emails were not answered. Subesequent calls to the hotel were answered by staff who could neither understand French nor English. Booking Conditions were not provided following several requests. We subsequently had to cancel our reservation and we continue to await the courtesy of confirmation of our cancellation.

Room Tip: The hotel looks very inviting on the outside however this is not to be said of the staff. Book somew...

We have just returned from a walking holiday in Corsica. We stayed two nights at L'Aitone. On the plus side, Evisa is in a great location for walking and the hotel had excellent views and a nice pool area. We had a room with a balcony and view - the experience would have been significantly worse without one. Also, contrary to some reports the owners were welcoming and wanted to please. On the downside, food quality was variable (although it might have improved had we not limited ourselves to the fixed price menu included in our package). We would not seek it out but it was one of the better hotels we stayed in and we wouldn't have a problem in staying there again.

Room Tip: View and balcony are particularly important here.

Don't expect a warm welcome when you arrive at this hotel- if you can find anyone at all! Admittedly this is low season in Corsica but there are still plenty of hikers around in the mountains so a hotel like this situated close to two of the long distance trails should be geared up for visitors and not sitting with their feet up in front of the tv looking annoyed at being interrupted! However that said it has a beautiful aspect high up outside the village of Evisa overlooking spectacular mountains (lovely sunset views from bedroom balcony and restaurant windows). The bedrooms are adequate although not luxurious but the guest lounge is a lovely room. Although it was too cold for us to fancy a dip in the pool it looked nice and there was an attractive childrens play area and outside seating area. The restaurant was good and the staff seemed more enthusiastic for this side of their business, breakfast was ok too.

Cheap (for Corsica) rooms and good views from the restaurant with passable food did not compensate for the down at heel grubiness of the place with the feeling of a decaying Eastern European hotel circa 1970, or the apalling attitude problem of the extremely unpleasant old men lurking front of house. As late as the 19th June they did not seem on top of basic maintenace and so some areas were "out of bounds" and others disfunctional. If you want the luxury of a WC with a closing door avoid room 15, better still avoid the hotel.
