“A beautiful, friendly summer escape”
Reviewed February 26, 2007

My stay at the Saffron house is a cherished, lasting memory.

My spouse and I stayed for a few days, to get away from all the stress of the busy world. We both desired a seaside holiday and some quality time together. On my desk at work is a photograph of our time there, to comfort my thoughts.

The Saffron House is located in Salt Rock; this is an ideal location because the town is not commercialised with large shopping centres, traffic and overcrowding (unlike some nearby seaside towns). And yet it is easy to locate, and not far from Durban at all.

What you will find are unspoilt beaches, river mouths, tidal pools, natural flora, sounds of silence and nature, friendly holiday makers, and a relaxing sense of safety as you are able to walk from the Saffron House to any of these natural features.

There are a few (but not too many!) restaurants nearby that make for excellent evening dining in the quiet nights.

As for the House itself, the rooms were spotless, scenic, and refreshingly cooled in a boiling summer. The pool was crystal clear and inviting. The facilities exceeded our expectations, and had some unique features. Privacy and peace were experiences that we could take for granted at The Saffron House.

Our hosts were very polite, welcoming folk. Their talents included a deliciously diverse breakfast, and a good knowledge of tourist activities within their area. In fact, they went quite far to assist us in finding things to do to make the holiday memorable.

If you're looking for holiday accomodation without any worries, if you want to remember your holiday in peaceful dreams, I kindly recommend a stay at the Saffron house.

I have just returned from my second visit to The Saffron House and I liked it so much that I am already planning my next visit! The location, Salt Rock, is a lovely quiet, green and beautiful place, right on the coast. Barely a five minute walk takes you to the beach wity breath taking views of the Indian Ocean. Often you can find that you have the beach completely to your self.
The owners of The Saffron House are perfect hosts and make you feel totally at home from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. The rooms are immaculate and have everything that you need and more - a real touch of luxury and so very comfortable. Breakfast is freshly prepared and delicious and certainly sets you up for the rest of the day.
Above all, The Saffron House gives such value for money as you get a touch of luxury, a homely and friendly welcome from the hosts and to be staying in an excellent location. Highly recommended to all.

We decided on the spur of the moment to book in for the night as it was our first wedding anniversary. It was a scorching weekend and the moment we entered the air conditioned haven of our room we didnt want to leave. The setting is beautiful. A swim in the salt water pool was almost as refreshing as collapsing on the percale linen and enjoying the sheer luxury of such quality cotton.

The breakfast the following morning was more than we could finish ( including the ultimate luxury - nutella spread). Our hosts were attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely return.
