“what a missed opportunity”

if this hotel had a serious refurb and some professional mgmt would come in this could be a fantastic resort . instead you have mediocre rooms , appallling bathrooms , and very poor mgmt . upon arrival the so called luxury room was stinking of smoke . the rooms are meant to be smoke free , but other customers had smoked in and even a clean ashtray was in the room. we were given an oppty to change room but the one offered had fresh paint smell .so we were given a spray but the smoke was impregnating the room. at breakfast kids were out of control , one mother even put the kid on the table where eggs bacon and other items were being served . the kid had its shoes on and started licking the serving spoons . we asked one of the duty managers to intervene she did so too softly and reluctantly . only after we made fuss and other customers complained the PRO told us that this would be a topic of a "special meeting" since that fanily was large and had several roooms booked , the other customers had to endure this and screaming of kids during all breakfast , without any mgmt intervention . the overall hotel look is tired and too rustic , the food is ok, service friendly , the biggest hotel asset is its position , but a change in mangement hands and style would transform this in one of the best hotels on the coast . and compared to europe i find this expensive for what it is

Room Tip: ask for sea view and if possible rooms in the "old part of the building ", lovely wooden f...

What a fabulous family hotel!
My grandchildren were so in love with their stay they have said it is their best holiday yet!
There is so much for the children to do & for the parents it is like being in paradise.
Beautiful clean rooms & grounds.
The swimming pool area is so social & relaxing.
Activities for the kiddies every day & evening.
This is real value for money.

Room Tip: Try to get one with a balcony

I have stayed at this hotel so many times over the years, and it never disappoints me!
I love this hotel, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to de-stress and just relax completely. It's fantastic for families and couples. The service is great and the rooms are clean and spacious with sea views.
Keep your eyes open for the dolphins playing in the waters every day, as this is the Dolphin Coast. The beach is clean and quiet, great for romantic walks or spening the afternoon playing with the kids on the beach and swimming in the tidal pools.
This is a older hotel that has a lovely, calm energy about it, it's not the fanciest hotel- but by far one of the best!!
Do yourself a favour and go stay there.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

We visit the Salt Rock Hotel time and time again and it is always just so lovely! I really hope that as the years go on, this wonderful hotel in the most prime location will keep its family atmosphere, competitive prices and outstadning cleanliness and service. Hightly recommened, our most favourite spot!

Room Tip: Family rooms, with A/C and kitchnette are great

6 nights in February 2012. Deluxe room (A/C, fridge, seating area, kitchette, TV with limited SuperSport channels, small balcony, sea view from second floor). Room plain but comfortable, bathroom OK, plumbing servicable although tired. Public areas excellent, pool good, food OK, prices very good, situation on beach excellent. Staff, particularly Public Relations lady, very friendly and efficient. Some restaurants in walking distance (felt safeout even at night) others 15 min drive in Balitto. We will include the hotel in our next visit to South Africa. Jim R, UK.

Room Tip: Choose A/C room as can be very humid and hot.

An excellent, older hotel that is well maintained and offers good rooms with sea views. The food was consistently good and the staff friendly and attentive. The gardens surrounding the hotel are very attractive and well maintained and there are plenty of areas where you can lounge while having a sea view and a drink in your hand. The beach is good (good security from the hotel) with 2 lovely tidal pools for swimming. The swimming beach is a 5 minute walk along the beach. Outstanding value for money spent.

Room Tip: Very attentive and friendly staff. It's an older hotel but has been well maintained and is exce...
