“Good Location but not 4 star”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Stopped quite late on way back from portugal was offered a 4th floor attic room for 87 euro
with breakfast the room was clean but just ok we were woken really early in the morning by trains that sounded as if they were just outside the back wall of the hotel, as we only had one window in the roof we were not aware that they were just outside the back wall of the hotel. Breakfast was very badly had no bacon more a continental style. The hotel is in a prime position lots of places to eat even in October but did dislike paying 4.60 euro for parking the car

Room Tip: Do not take attic room only skylight velux would be so hot in summer

Just in front of the see in a location not yet destroyed by the crazy building boom which is visible all along the Spanish mediterranean coast. The hotel is new, clean, rooms are big, breakfast buffet more than reasonable, price is also convenient, especially in this not too high season. Ideal for those wanting to enjoy riding bikes, kiete surf or bird watching in the Delta del Ebre natural park.

We were touring the area with another couple so it was ideal and we enjoyed our stay. The staff were pleasant - especially in the bar and breakfast room. The room was very average. The pool area was very small - the pool not much bigger than a jacuzzi with only 8 loungers. The position is ideal and it wasn't expensive. I've paid a lot more in 3 star hotels - which were a lot better than this. I'd love to understand the star system.

As usual, we did not have reservations as we were driving unscheduled around Spain.

The hotel has a great location, right across the street from the small pebble beach.
Breakfast is good, and reception staff friendly & helpfull.
And this ends the good points of this hotel.

First night was in junior suite 219. Just a large room with a sea view.
The minibar had a nasty surprise : a hair & dust ball hanging inside it. How on earth can that be there & how come staff who religously checks for minibar use does not see it ???

2nd night was in room 209 ( not that different than the suite really, minus the sea view). It looks over on the street, has a balcony too.
But, the hotels garbage bins are right under it, so the smell was horrible.
I understand that garbage smells & this is the height of summer, but a hotel that claims to have 4 starts must / should figure something out, as half of all the rooms they have look over to this side.

the 2nd room had 0 towels, had to ask housekeeping, which was doing rooms on the same floor, twice ( 2nd time not so nicely) and only after 1 hour of waiting, got them.

Wifi only works in the lobbly & breakfast area, which I think is ridiculous, how expensive is it to extend wireless coverage, really.

The area is one of the few preserved areas I've seen in Spain, and Hotel Flamingo probably got the 4 stars when it was constructed.
In todays standards, I've give it 3 stars max, it's just an extended bed & breakfast with a restaurant - which takes 30 minutes to bring water.

Room Tip: ask for rooms that are not over the garbage bins, on the side steet

Dear Sir or Madam,

We apologize for the inconveniences that you have Turing your accommodation in our hotel. And we will do our best so this will not happen again.

About the sea views complaint, we inform you that the Junior Suite room that you have for the first night have a sea front view. As you asked to lodge one more night, we offer you a single room with an extra bed and this room has lateral views to the sea and the street; but we informed you that this was the only room that we have available for those days because we were full.

Please, again, we apologize for the problems that you have.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs. Silvia Màrquez

not sure it deserves a 4-star rating. we've been traveling the coast of portugal and spain for a month and this is simply average, a decent 3 star. restaurant has a beautiful setting, however.

Room Tip: DON'T let them put you on the fourth/attic floor.

We have stayed in L'Ampolla a few times and decided to try this hotel for a change. It was great! The rooms mostly overlook the sea and delta beyond and were clean, roomy and comfortable. The staff were charming and the breakfast more than adequate. Secure parking was available but as this was off season we chose to park on the nearby street. It took just ten mins to walk into town and to the shops and restaurants in L'Ampolla. The only down side was the noise from the motorway that was close by but it didnt stop us from having a comfortable and restful time in this charming town next to the Ebro Delta.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the sea are quieter
