A place to return to. Small family driven hotel with cosy atmosphere and excellent service. 5 minute walk to the beach. Boat service to Trogir every 15 minutes much more efficient than car due to heavy traffic in Trogir centre (at the bridge) Small pool to cool down in.

We will definitly return to this hotel next time in Trogir area.

We stayed at the Villa Katarina between 18 August to 1 September and from the moment we first arrived until we set off for home we were treated like long lost friends rather than customers. The extremely hard working husband and wife owners,Sime and Josipa, were so helpful in every way and gave us tips on what to see, helped us with phone and email bookings and even though they work ridiculously long hours they always stopped to greet us either first thing in the morning at breakfast or late at night when we returned to the villa after another one of our day trips out.
As we stayed for a fortnight they put us in one of the apartments with a small kitchen area and a huge balcony with views across the bay of Trogir and beyond (Room 105).The room was fairly basic as was the bed but it was cleaned every day and the bed sheets and towels were changed daily as well. The TV only had a few channels which were mostly Croatian and German but we still managed to find a couple of films to enjoy. The air conditioning unit was essential and the shower was powerful enough if a little cramped.
The breakfasts were varied and had something for everybody and given that it was included in the overall price you could not fault it.Lunch and dinner was a little limited with the menu comprising mostly pizzas, pasta and salads but it was all fresh, good quality and not at all expensive.
The small swimming pool is great to dip into to cool off but not suitable if you actually want to swim due to it's size.A few more sun beds would not go a miss but that said we never struggled to find one though we did get down there fairly early on in the day.
The location is great slightly raised above sea level and the small beach is a 2 minute walk down the hill. The main beach of Okrug Gornji is a 5 or 6 minute walk away where there are restaurants, bars, excursion stalls and a couple of super markets plus the harbour area where you can get the frequent ferry across to Trogir. This is a very handy service at 15 Kuna each as the traffic out of Okrug to the stone bridge linking Ciovo to Trogir can be a nightmare at times!
The courtesy laptop for everyones use was a very nice touch and we used it to book excursions and keep in touch with the news back home.Josipa even allowed us to use her phone a couple of times and translated for me when I struggled to understand what I was being told.Again, a very nice touch which totally enhanced our time there.
I would recommend Villa Katarina to everybody and would stay there again if ever back out that way.It is my opinion that you would have to go some way to beat it for value for money and we are still amazed at what we got for so little expense!

Room Tip: Ask for room 105

My husband and I stayed at VK for 10 nights at the end of July 2011 (31/07 to 10/08). I'd booked the room online and was greeted by an English speaking receptionist who greeted me warmly by my first name.

We were lucky enough to be granted our request of a room with a fantastic sea view in high season.

VK has around 20 or so rooms, with all the staff being friendly, helpful and very personable. All spoke English and were very obliging.

Our double room consisted of two beds positioned together with two separate duvets but I think this may be a central/eastern European set up as we experienced this in Budapest.
The room was cleaned every day and was spacious enough for us. The bathroom was fairly small but clean and the shower was powerful. The balcony was bathed in sun by late morning and remained hot for the rest of the day (room 204).

Breakfast was self service - a choice of three types of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bread and spreads, and cold meat and cheese. There was also a hot option of eggs and meat which differed daily. Coffee and juice were also available. We also ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times which mainly served pizzas, salads, toasted sandwiches and desserts. The pizzas and salads were fantastic.

The pool was really quite small – big enough for a 'dip' to cool off but not for swimming. Considering that it was high season and VK seemed full, there were only a few days when we didn't get a sunbed. The beach was only a five minute walk away however and was clean (except for the occasional cigarette butt). The sea water was beautiful and exceptionally clear.

The hotel has wi-fi but this is only accessible either in the dining area (including the terrace area) or the near side of the pool. The dining area did have a laptop with an internet connection for those needing access.

We both enjoyed a very relaxing and hospitable stay. When we left VK, it felt like we were leaving friends behind :( The area/resort itself is not very big so a holiday can be 'done' in one week. I'd also suggest scheduling a day trip to Trogir (and Split if possible). I'd definitely recommend VK to anyone travelling to Okrug Gornji.

Room Tip: Certainly request a room with a sea view (if available)

I stayed at this hotel from 13 to 19 June 2011. Reservations were made via the Internet and I also pre-booked taxi to the hotel via Croatian agency. I was very warmly welcomed, given the keys to the rooms on the fourth floor. My room had amazing views of the sea and surroundings of the island. I must also say that this is a very clean hotel. The room: a large double bed, wardrobe, towels, shower, TV (I counted more than 200 satellite channels) and air conditioner. Very large balcony with two plastic chairs and a table. Breakfast: fresh bread, fruit, honey, eggs, fried ham, apple and orange juice, sausages and cheese set. The hotel has a restaurant with a large selection of Italian dishes. The beach is just a three-five minute walk away from the hotel. However, you can sunbathe in your own private balcony or near the pool in the hotel courtyard. The only thing that might be difficult for older people - the hotel has no lift (but they do not exist in most hotels and houses in this area).
The Okrug Gornji (island of Ciovo) has a beautiful beach with many bars and restaurants. Grocery stores are also nearby. The island is connected with the town of Trogir by bridge - Trogir can be reached by bus, on foot or by ferry (cruise starts from June 15, one way ticket was 15 kunas).

Croatia is very safe country. I really enjoyed my holiday and for sure I`ll come back to Ciovo again!

Villa Katarina is a nice little family run hotel with own restaurant. The staff at Villa Katarina was very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

We had a room with a small balcony and sea view. There was also satellite television with many, many German channels. Although the hotel is located next to a street, we did not experience excessive noise. The restaurant serves excellent food (pizzas, pastas, seafood and meat) at reasonable prices on a nice terrace/patio.

The pool is small but fine and was never very busy (no problem to get a beach chair).
A 3 minute walk will bring you to the neat little beach with clear water and which is, although not the best of Croatia, very enjoyable, not overpopulated and frequented by many locals. There's also a small beach bar and a guy walking around selling hot corn cobs.

We found it a very cozy place that we hope to visit again.

If you wish to visit Trogir, take the boat instead of car or bus because the only road in can be seriously congested.
