I booked this pub on the last day of our trip to Wales for lunch before we all headed back to Berkshire. The owners were ever so lovely and welcoming. They had a table for 9 ready and all laid out when we arrived, tired and hungry after a lovely couple of hours visiting the Usk castle and basking in the glorious sun. The leek and Welsh cheese soup was extremely tasty. White bait was okay but my friend's grilled sardine was fresh however could have done with some seasoning. I had the Glamorgan sausages with salad and chips and another had a vegetarian bake. Sadly they were both a little odd. Good effort though as it was more imaginative than most menus. Others who had the duck, scampi, pie and gammon really enjoyed their meal. Despite the small issues, we had a very lovely afternoon and loved the very pleasant and welcome from the pub owners. We really felt the Welsh welcome! Thank you.
