“Worth a visit”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Hidden gem, entry by donation, you can wander around the place and enjoy the view, then take a walk through the woods, check out the pheasants.

“Different to usual Castle visits”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Not the usual tourist attraction. You move a stone from a bowl into a basket to show that you have been. You pay what you feel is relevant when you leave. There are lots of places to sit and take in the amazing views and different buildings. Lots of wooden carvings dotted around the place. Sheep and rabbits roaming around. Quirky.

“A hidden gem.”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Really interesting and "un-touristy" but you need decent shoes to get up there! Outstanding views. Not easy to find but well worth the effort - look for the lane opposite the fire station.

“Rejuvenating little gem!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

We happened upon this quite by chance and my husband was instantly transformed into a small boy; excitedly scampering amongst the ruins! It's a donation to get in and there are small cards to borrow with a write up explaining about the castle and each of its parts. It was lovely to see a sign saying "Enter at your own risk" none of the H&S over the top business!
Recommend you take a picnic and enjoy some family time. Children's (and husbands') imagination should be left to run wild here.

“A romantic garden”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

This garden has much improved since our last visit approx. 3 years ago There is a lot more for the plantsman to enjoy. The views from the garden high above Usk are fantastic and there is plenty of seating for you to while away some time and soak in the atmosphere.
