If you ever find yourself close to Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa, then do go and see Badia a Passignano. It is a small place in the middle of the most beautiful Chianti, rolling hills all around you, vineyards and olivegroves.
There's plenty of places there to go for long walks, or hiking. I went for a 5 hour hike with friends once and it was beautiful.
There are a few restaurants there too, so you don't have to go hungry. The big Abbey there seems to be closed to the public though, it was when we were there and believe me, we tried to get in, but it may be open at other times of the year.
This is definitely a place to enjoy the typical Tuscan scenery and I can warmly recommend going there. Restaurants are good too.
