Owner description: From here, you will fly over the legendary Chianti landscape with its hilltop towns, castles, valleys, famous vineyards, and mixed woodlands. A powerful landscape, one of the most civilised rural scenes on earth, cultivated tranquility of olives, vines, and corn. The olives' silver and the many variegated shades of green appear as a veil over elemental majesty and silence. On clear days in the distance you can see Florence to the North and the Apennine mountain range in the background; to the West you can see the Elsa valley, San Gimignano, Certaldo, and Volterra and the sea in the far distance; to the South, Poggibonsi, Colle Val d'Elsa and Siena and Monte Amiata in the distance; to the East the higher Monti del Chianti and mixed oak woodlands.all in a hot air balloon with safety and courtesy, we are a certified company from ENAC (Civil Aviation Auth.)

“Amazing advanture over beautiful Tuscany”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

This definitely was the summit of our 1 week family trip to Tuscany. Early in the morning, we stepped into the basket and went high into the sky. The air was clear and quit and the scenery was absolutely amazing. This is probably what birds see when they fly.
Very very professional service!!! The balloons (2 of them!) were waiting for us when we arrived, and after a short briefing we took off. The pilot, Antonio, was very knowledgeable and explained about the balloon and the scenery below. After the landing we were taken to a beautiful house surrounded by fruit trees and had a wonderful breakfast. Stephano, the owner, showed us his impressive workshop and shared his passion for cooking, flying and stargazing. We not only had an amazing experience, we also found new friends!

“Wonderful balloon flight over Tuscany!”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Me and my wife just returned from this amazing experience and I rushed to put this up on trip advisor because of how wonderful it was. The whole day felt like a family experience, Stefano the pilot is an extremely sweet man and a very well trained balloon pilot ( hes been doing this for over 20 years and has not had any accidents yet). The trip lasts between 45 to 90 minutes depending on how long it takes to find a suitable landing and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. At some points you are high up in the air looking down at the beautiful vineyards while at other times you are only a few meters gliding above the trees, giving the effect of a scene from a movie. After the landing ( which was very smooth thanks to Stefano and his team), Stefano and his partner Gianna take you to their house for a wonderful breakfast, mostly made with local ingredients ( the cheese was incredible). The food was delicious and Stefano and his entire staff keep you entertained and are all really nice and friendly. Stefano himself is a very well cultured man and knows alot about the history of the area (we happened to land near a road that was thousands of years old and he took the time to explain all the history behind it which was very interesting). The team was also nice enough to recommend some good places to get wine in the area. Overall just an amazing experience and the highlight of our trip so far! I will defintely be back again and will recommend Idea Balloon to all my friends visiting italy as a safe and fun way to see tuscany from the skies.

“Up Up and away!!!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

My wife and I were taken hot air ballooning with Idea Balloon company and absolutely loved the experience. The ride was magnificent and the views stunning. As certain points we were only metres from the tops of vineyards and olive groves. At other times we would shoot up to 3000ft to be greeted with a perfect view of Chianti in the morning light, awesome.
Stefano the pilot was hugely experienced and passionate about his job and responsibilities and made the ride much more interesting than we were expecting.
The typical rustic Italian breakfast at their home was a treat and then we were invited in to chat to them in their kitchen. By and far the most memorable experience in our whole time in Italy, authentic and unique! It is a little pricey though.

“Hot Air Ballooning in Chianti”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience floating over magnificent countryside in a hot air balloon in the middle of the Chianti region just outside Florence. It was a gloriously clear day and we could literally see forever. Beatutiful villages perched on hillsides. Florence off in the distance and all around a glorious landscape sculpted with vineyards, olive groves and fields of grain in various colors of green and amber.
The crew, headed by pilot Stefano with many years of flying experience, calmed any anxieties I felt about flying. He was very detailed in explaining the operation to us and very skilled in executing the manuveurs. The result was a beautiful smooth flight.
We also got to the site of the takeoff early and were able to seem them blow up the balloons and prepare for the flight. It was very interesting to see the whole process.
The flight was followed by breakfast/brunch at Stefano and Gianna's country home. We were served fruit in season, prosciutto, salamis, some great local pecorino cheese, crusty Tuscan bread along with bubbling white wine, coffee and fruit juices. The staff is very friendly and gracious and speaks English very well.
Just an amazing voyage ...
