We have stayed in Incline Cottage twice now in the most Beautiful setting having the most wonderful hosts who have impeccable standards and provide 5* Accommodation.
If you have looked on the website and believe the boats and cottages look too good to be true then feel reassured that they are every bit as good if not better! The first time my wife and I arrived she burst into tears after having a bad 6 months and then arriving in your very own paradise! We spent hours sat on the canal side with a fire going watching the owners stunning narrow boats chug by, and they really are a class above the other traffic. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable and extremely well kitted out, literally unload your groceries and relax!!
We have now booked Dry Dock for both November and next June after we were shown around whilst recently there and cannot wait to stay as Alasdair and Sarah have managed to surpass themselves when it comes to luxurious indulgence.
Thank you so much to you and all your staff for the most fabulous time and we look forward to seeing you both in November.
Very Best of Wishes to you and your family x
This most wonderful cottage, compact but complete, in most beautiful countryside alongside a tranquil canal is a must for any couple (or singleton) who want superb comfort in a peaceful location surrounded by brilliantly scenic countryside with easy access to Abergavenny, Brecon and the incomparable Crickhowell where the Bear Hotel provides welcome respite. Incline Cottage is warm and cosy, enjoys superb views, is brilliantly equipped to a high specification (none of your cheap holiday cottage furniture), has an endless supply of logs for the stove if you so desire and a most comfortable bed PLUS the whole place is spotless. A pleasure to be there and it doesn't matter if it rains! Sitting in the garden by the canal in the evening with the brazier burning merrily, the perfect end to any day.
Next year we plan to stay in Dry Dock Cottage which is very different but looks just as good if not better - if that is possible.
PS Their Canal Boats are incomparably the best also.
Dry Dock Cottage does not have the wow factor, it has the "Double Wow" factor and it has it in abundance.
A truly imaginative and unique conversion with the most spectacular and peaceful outlook through the bifold doors directly onto the canal basin and the hills beyond.
A lot of considered thought and attention to detail have obviously gone into the layout of the four levels, each of which works seamlessly, and the sumptuous furnishings are the icing on the cake, especially the very comfortable bed ..... and the lovely squidgy pillows (which I have since ordered on my return home!). Nothing has been left to chance, we wanted for nothing.
I defy anyone not to have THE MOST magical holiday in Dry Dock Cottage with its beautifully manicured surroundings and not to involuntarily exclaim "WOW" on arrival.
Thank you Sarah and Alasdair for sharing your home environment with us.
We enjoyed a fantastic week, in late May, early June, at Wharfingers Cottage, celebrating my 65th birthday.
What can I say apart from a sincere thank you Alasdair and Sarah for letting us stay in your immaculate property. The accommodation you provide is first class; the standard of fixtures and fittings is high and the location is one that I will remember for many a year. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world, but your location in Llanfoist is idyllic and at this time of year in early summer, it is an absolute joy.
We watched Blue Tits fledge their young from their nest underneath the soffit by the kitchen window; we saw birds of prey high above us, fish jumping in the canal and the highlight, the friendly female mallard who joined us for breakfast, noisily tapping on the kitchen window demanding to be fed.
We had many a conversation with the boaters on the canal and after a week we all became expert in how to best manoeuvre through bridge 95A from any direction.
Thank you again for allowing us to use your premises; I'm certain we will return, either to one of the cottages or perhaps to hire one of your boats.
PS: my youngest son has just booked again with his in-laws, he was so impressed!
We stayed at Incline cottage ,the location was fantastic
the cottage was cosy, clean and very modern,
We loved it so much we have booked to go back October in Dry Dock cottage, also next July back to Incline cottage.A totally magical place.
We stayed in Incline Cottage, a gorgeous, luxury cottage for two and our dog came too. Perfect location beside the Monmouth and Brecon Canal, in stunning countryside. Everything you could wish for. Cosy log burner in the open plan lounge, walk in shower in the bathroom. Huge comfortable bed with top quality bed linen. To top it all a large roll top bath in the bedroom. The cottage exudes quality and luxury.
Well for me you can't go wrong visiting what I consider to be my second home Wales. The area around Brecon is lovely to say the least, and the Welsh people are for the main very friendly. I have been visiting the area for over 50 years now and will keep going back as long as I can. Our accommodation was first class.
