Banyan Tree Ringha is a land of great beauty and peacefulness. We enjoyed staying at the Tibetan style farmhouse and the great hospitality of the staff. All we had to do is to relax and enjoy. Plus wonderful and professional spa treatment.

I have stayed in Banyan Tree Ringha for 3 nights. The view is amazing and this is the exact how I imagined of Shangri-la, peaceful heaven.

The room is amazingly nice and big. Huge Tibetan Housing with Red decoration.

The restaurant provides good Tibetan Hotpot, which is very delicious. I like to spend a whole afternoon in the cafe to watch the cloud flying over.

Special thanks to DAVID, the excellent staff from the front desk. He was very helpful to arrange my trips and sightseeing. Also his advice of shopping did help me and my wife a lot! I can feel like talking to a friend for ages during my stay.

I will come back to this hotel again with the rest of my family in the near future!

Thanks again, DAVID!

This hotel is very remote about 40 minutes outside of Shabgri-la. The villas are very large and are reconstructed traditional Tibetan houses. Very unique. Beautiful scenery. If your looking for a place to truly experience local culture, this is it. There is an 800 year old Budist temple within walking distance and a beautiful river running along the property. We stayed in the Tibetan spa suite.

Room Tip: Tibetan spa suite was very large. Bathrooms are downstairs from the bedroom areas and also very lar...

Though having to take the day off from touring gives me time to write this - I've gotten sick at much, much nicer places than this and of our group I was the only one so it wasn't the Tibetan Hot Pot meal served by Bob last night - both of which were outstanding.

Not only is the resort, but the entire Shangri La County are completely over-marketed thus created unsustainable expectations.

First of all, the location, while requiring a brief stint on an unpaved road, is charming - in the midst of a tiny Tibetan village and the resort has repurposed some of the original Tibetan style houses which is a great idea executed poorly and maintained even worse. The tile is already coming off bathroom walls, the amenities are dusty and unappealing, the décor is uninspired and the staff is super-sweet but not well-trained.

It this were a hiking/adventuring place and it were much cheaper - then it would be rustic and charming. As it is, my understanding is that is markets and appeals to the domestic tourists who might expect less unless they stayed at the Banyan Tree in Lijiang which is much better.

I would recommend thinking twice about staying here and even coming to this area - getting very over-developed - and head for Bhutan.

We arrived late in the afternoon after the long drive from Lijiang. It was like driving back in time, driving through the small Tibetan villages was wonderful, at times stopping to allow the villagers walking their animals along the road, great to see!
The hotel is nestled in a valley surrounded by wonderful scenary, it was extremely peaceful. An ideal place to unwind from a hectic lifestyle.
There is not a lot to do other than relax and watch the locals walk their cattle, pigs and sheep up the mountain no doubt following their daily routine passed down through the generations.
Definitely have the Tibetan Hot Pot, you won't be disappointed!
All the staff were very friendly and very helpful with anything you wanted to do, we were happy to just sit and relax and of course enjoy a massage!
Do be careful with altitude sickness, you need to slow down and need their advise if you are affected.
We had the Spa suite, which was very large and comfortable.
No problem with being cold, I think I counted 5 heaters going all day to keep us nice and warm.
Would recommend this resort for anyone seeking a quiet holiday or perhaps trekking in the mountains (something we didn't do, but it would be very scenic)

Room Tip: Spa suite, was very large and comfortable

This review is one of the hardest we have written because the hotel and location is so very unique. I had laughed that going to ShangriLa was like going to the end of the earth-----well this property is 14 k further!!
If I had not stayed there, I probably would have always wondered what I had missed, but it is NOT for everyone and not for someone who has trouble with steps, stairs and cold. The altitude is 11000 ft. and there are lots of steps. The bedroom is on top floor and there are 13 stairs to get downstairs to toilet, shower, etc. Also, these are typical tribal houses and they are very cold. We and our friends never got warm and this was SPRING!! The area is worth the visit and it was very Tibetan in tradition and feel. Next time I would stay at the new Accor Songtsam next to the monastery. The staff was lovely and tried very hard to please. Excellent massage.Don't let this keep you from the wonderful Banyan Tree in Lijiang. The

We both got either altitude sickness, a bug or food poisoning so part of our honeymoon was slightly tainted by this. It's gorgeous, the hotel is remote (the local town isn't) and for that you can't have proper 5* treatment but the staff try their hardest and the manager is excellent. The trips in the area fab, I adore local markets and these are filled with tribes people from the local area.
