We arrived at Qiaotou from Shangril-la in the early afternoon, and the late start meant we didn't have much of a choice for accomodations. But it turned out that Naxi Family Guesthouse was a really nice place to relax for the evening. The proprietress was extremely friendly, and the room we stayed in, a double in a building that was built last year, was comfortable, clean, and cheap. And the shower had plenty of hot water. The meals were fine and reasonably priced, though Tiger Leaping Gorge is not a place for haute cuisine. It would have been nice to stay for another night or so and explore a bit, but we had to make our way the next day. The only annoying thing was an abundance of flies, which are probably attracted to nearby livestock (mules and pigs). Also, they have a caged monkey next to the pig sty, which is a bit sad to see.
