Fairly basic rooms and food but acceptable. Highly recommended due to the location. No fancier rooms available in this area.

Room Tip: Take a mountain view

The rooms are nice, big bed, nice barhroom but expensive (240 y for room without view). The food is ok. But the owner is so rude, have never experienced this before. Try to ask a question of which he doesn't make money off, you'll be told off or lied to. No I will never stay here again. Down the road there is a place called Woody's, looked good, lunch was very nice and the rooms are 1/3 of the price.

Sean was incredibly and unnecessarily rude to my good friend. Upon arriving at Sean's after a long day of hiking, the four consecutive rooms we had booked were not available and Sean tried to put us into a cheaper and less attractive room. When my friend inquired about why our room was not available, instead of apologizing, Sean launched into a diatribe about people from Shanghai (my friend is Shanghainese) that led my friend to tears. Shocked and angry, we had no choice but to keep quiet so we would not get kicked out of our rooms and be forced to find other accommodation. Another guest in the cafe said Sean had discriminated against him as well for being from Shanghai. Unbelievable! Although the beds were comfortable and the showers were hot, I simply cannot recommend staying at this hostel owned by a racist and short-sighted terrible little man.

Not only the owner Sean tries to rip foreign tourists off by charging premium rent, but also is a racist against his own Chinese ppl, esp the Shanghainese!
We recently took a hiking trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge and I reserved 4 BB room which are claimed to be the BEST room equivalent to 5 star hotel standard... I negotiated the deal from 380RMB (this is the price for all English speakers!) per night to 220RMB and paid 400RMB deposit! Called the hotel couple times to confirm my reservation and was told everything's all set!
By the night we arrived, they gave us three rooms which seemed decent but the 4th room was defo not the same grade!! There was NO explanation or apologies given, but instead, Sean and his wife (or Daughter???!!) used the below words:
"This is the room u wanted... a king size bed! U can take it or leave it"
"Do u want it? if not, we'll give it to others who r waiting to stay here" (errr... there weren't any other guests waiting to check in!)
I was reasoning with them and mentioned that it was agreed what rooms we would be staying for the night.... somehow, Sean started to get annoyed about it and accused that i have a bad attitude! He immediately asked where i was from...
"Shanghai" i said... then he started his racist attack!!!!
"U Shanghai ppl r the worst!! U r not welcomed here! Ur reputations are terrible!! I‘m disgusted by Shanghai!! This is my place!! if u dun want the room, u can leave!!"
What the HECK!!! a while after that, he turned into other tables where some western guests were having dinner...acted totally like a brown-nose!!

In addition, there was a GIANT spider in the bathroom.... (guess it's normal in the mountain...)
But NO HOT WATER around 10pm or 8am when i tried to take a shower!!!

the worst accommodation exp EVER... the WORST Chinese EVER (as myself is a Chinese!)
Shame on u, Sean!!

Travelers, pls be aware and dun get ripped off or cunning by this hostel!!! Good luck to everyone~

On the last leg of our TLG trek we decided to stay at Sean's - because it was low season we were the only ones staying there so managed to get a bit of a discount - still 250 yuan for "their best room facing the mountain". The room was fine, nice actually, with heating, but look and feel seems to be moving more towards a mini hotel and away from its backpacking origins. However still much friendlier feel than Tinas which felt functional, but characterless

We saw there was a charge to use the wifi which felt a bit hotel-like too...this was in comparison to the warm welcome we'd received at Tea Horse guest house the previous night.

Having said all that, the lady there did do her best to help us, freshly making dinner and arranging a driver to take us to Qiatou the next morning
