We have been there in 2010 for 3 nights. Very good food, very kind staff and perfect gardens and kids playgrounds. The beach is also very nice and close to the hotel rooms.

We were not booked for this Hotel and only received notice of change three days prior to journey. Gelina Hotel is ideal for families with young children, plenty of room in the 3 pools, beach access, activities of events throughout the day and evening shows for both children and later adults. The Animation team put their heart and soul into their shows and were a great group of people. The Hotel was good value for money, food edible and drinks available. The staff also made you very welcome. For me and my friend two ladies [young at heart] not really what we had planned due to change of venue, but nevertheless it was a good stay and Deter and his team should carry on as it can get better when all the little wrinkles are ironed out.

All in all a great holiday, perfect for families with children.
When we arrived there were only 12 guests at this 900+ bed all inclusive resort. The hotel had just opened for the season. There were a few problems with the evening meal on the first night and due to a wedding in the evening. After speaking to the manager "Deker" who took it very serious there were no more problems the entire stay. The manager is very competent and was visible the entire stay at the hotel.

Rooms: We booked a 2 bedded apartment for 3 adults and 2 children. When we checked in we were given 2 apartments next to each other which was great. One was a 1 bed apartment with bedroom, living room, full bathroom, small kitchenette, and large terrece. The other a large studio apartment. Rooms were very clean and furniture were in good condition.

Meals: The first 2 days the buffet was not available, due to the lack of guests. We were given a starter, main and dessert for every meal, which was very nice. From wednesday onwards the buffet was open, and we werent disappointed. Breakfast is a mix of greek yoghurt, ham, cheese and other meats, full english, cereals, honey, bread (There is an onsite baker)
Lunch was a mixture of hot and cold dishes, greek cuisine with an international twist.
Dinner was the same as above. There salad buffet was extremely fresh with a good variety to choose from. The warm dishes always fresh and never run out. There was always meat and fish dishes available and more times than not vegetarien alternatives as well.
The Desserts were gorgeous and varied.

The staff in the restaurant and bar were very professional.
There was cake available in the afternoon, but other than that there were no snacks available between meals. As this is an all inclusive resort for families there could have been icecream or ice lollies available for the kids and there wasnt.
The only other thing I would say is there is a long walk from the pool/beach area to the bar

Club Calimare & Kids Club (Reps)
The reps at this hotel are brilliant. Silvio and his team are gems. The kids club is run perfectly, our children loved it. There were lots of activities for them, body boarding, swimming, table tennis, board games, ball games, face painting, childrens disco and much more.
The reps work really hard, are always visible and a great asset to this hotel. The team are mainly from Germany, but speak a variety of languages.
For adults there are numerous activities available throughout the day.
Pedalo and kayaks are available at the beach

The grounds of this hotel are massive and very well looked after, It is very pretty. There is also numerous swimming pools, areas to sit, wildlife areas and a small zoo.
The hotel is in Acharavi, a nice town in the north of the Island. Its approx 1 hour from the airport.

I would recommend this resort to friends and family

My husband and I stayed in Gelina hotel 4 days. We went there with friends for Easter holidays. Friendly personnel, good food, the beach and the gardens are perfect but the rooms weren't 5-star hotel rooms. Our room was big, with kitchen and living room but the furniture were old, the window of the bedroom was spoiled and the balcony was dirty. Definitely the rooms need a renovation!

I went to Gelina hotel for Easter holidays. It's 37km far from Corfu town (about 50min. by car). Excellent resort for families with kids. Relaxing environment. Near the sea with 2 pools and a spa. Lots of green around, place to walk, good restaurant and food with little variety. Rooms can't be mentioned as 5 star (actually the furniture and the bathroom amenities are not for a 5 star hotel) but are spacious with kitchen and a small living room (studios). There is a little church in the gardens. Good personnel especially those in the restaurant. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask if there is a double bed if you are a couple. Rooms in the back side of the hotel should be less...

Great holiday, superior animation for kids!
The rooms are not quite 4-stars for North-American standards, but having experienced numerous southern european hotels it's a 4-star. The ground are well kept and spacious, the beach clean and the water excellent. but nothing tops the eager animation team, which was the best we ever experienced in any club.

As in many cases, already described above by some unlucky holidaymakers, me and my family were put to Gelina Mare officialy rated a 2-star hotel!, although we had paid for the Gelina Village 4-star in Belgium, at Jetair. It all looked like a purposeful action done by the Hotel Administration - no-one informed us Mare was a lower category, and we found out after a couple of minutes after entering the room - Gelina Mare is a dump and it even has a marking on the door: Hotel Category - 2 stars. After a hard bargain at the reception and a call to the Jetair Rep. and a day spent in Mare we were put in Kalypso building of the Gelina Village complex.
Here are the pros and cons:

- put to gellina mare, due to overbooking
- bit repetitive food, fake drinks (coca cola) felt sick after a few days
- ants in the rooms, shabby looking hotel, old and rickety furniture, not cleaned properly (on Sundays, the cleaning staff has a day off)
- staff - mainly very young student-looking people, whose English was really poor
- aggressive German animation, very loud just next to the kids pool, very disturbing
- not recommended for couples and singles

+ good location (proximity of Peroulades/Sidari)
+ very well adjusted for families, good facilities: kids pools, playground, lots of kids chairs in restaurant, mini zoo, shops with baby stuff around (food, milk, nappies)
+ private beach and free sunbeds

Save for stress with the Gelina Mare transfer I would have rated the holiday much higher. Unfortunately, it seems more of a common practice there, rather than a mistake. If you do not have children avoid this hotel. Probably what really spoils your peace is the animation (mainly in German) which is so loud and so disturbing you'll find it difficult to get away from, no matter where you are in Gelina outdoors. Our 2-year old loved the pool though, and the beach as well, she didn't even mind the obtrusive animation.
