We had a lovely 5 night stay at the Villa Luketa. The apartment was clean, stylish and comfortable, kitchen well equipped. The view from the balcony was incredible. We got much more than we thought we booked. The host was very friendly and helpful. The Villa Luketa is very well located for visiting Split and Omiš with very good bus connection for both cities(every 30 min). If you can manage few steps, I recommend The Luketa Villa wholeheartedly.

For the price we paid, our expectations of Villa Luketa were not very high but when we arrived and were shown to our apartment, first by the family's non-english speaking grandmother and then by Ivo who spoke excellent english, we wondered if we had come to the right place! We had a large double room, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and, best of all, a terrace that looked out over the main city of Split from across a short stretch of the Adriatic sea and in the evenings we had a perfect view of the sun setting behind the Dinaric Alps. The air-con was an absolute god-send and ensured we had a good night's sleep. The hot water was an issue as there was only enough one quick shower at any time which was fine for a couple but I can imagine would be inconvenient for a family or large group. Ivo directed us to Fabio's pizzeria which, turning right as you leave the building, is just a short 5 minute walk away and is next to the bus stop for Split city centre so very handy for a quick drink while you wait! They served basic but delicious food and drink and the staff were lovely. Ivo also advised us to use the 'Tommi' supermarket which was a 10 minute walk to the left of the building but there were two other equally adequate shops in between for all our basic supplies however Tommi was the only one with a cash machine. The best aspect for us was that we were a 2 minute walk from the sea, the walk is down a fair few steps but if your visiting Split then you should expect a lot of steps to climb as the area is very hilly! There are two set beaches one to the left and one to the right as you get down th steps. To the left, the beach is used by residents of the 5-star hotel Meridian but is open to anyone, as are the sun-beds and parasols. The beach itself is shingles but all of the beaches on the Dalmatian coast are! When you get in though you will find the sand and the water is glorious. We bought beach shoes with rubber soles and they were life-savers! To the right there is another beach that we found mostly to be used by locals and much less busy, there was a guy there taking people out on his jet ski for a small fee. However, we preferred to ignore the beaches and just jump in anywhere but usually just off the rocks directly at the bottom of the steps!

The day before we left Ivo left us a note asking us to leave the key in the door, thanked us for staying and also left us a bottle of wine which perked us up as we were sad to be leaving. You do need to empty your own bins and clean up after yourself so this is not the place to stay if your looking to be pampered...but for us, well, we felt spoilt!!

For the price we found Villa Luketa to be everything we needed really. The room was clean, & the kitchen well equipped, although we ate out every night. The bed was massive and the air con assured we got a good night's sleep. Although the main coastal road is outside we couldn't hear it at all. There are alot of steps so perhaps not good for elderly or disabled people but not a problem for us. Steps from the apartment lead down to the beach & you can walk around the promenade to find some good beaches for sunbathing. All the beaches in Croatia are pebbly but the sea is crystal clear & lovely to swim in so wasn't a problem. I though the location of the apartment was good as you are away from the busyness of Split but close enough to easily bus it in and also easily travel to the resorts further south such as Omis & Makarska. As others have said, Fabios pizzeria is lovely & very handy after a long day & we also used the casino at the 5* hotel next door!!

The family that run the villa are very friendly & helpful & we were offered a transfer back to the airport which was much cheaper than a taxi & much quicker than the bus.

All in all the apartments are very good as a base, especially if like us you will be out & about every day anyway. Would happily stay there again - we had a very enjoyable stay & a lovely holiday.

We stayed at the Villa Luketa for one week and enjoyed it very much.
The apartment we stayed in was very nice and well equipped, including satellite TV. The view from the balcony is just gorgeous. The beach is a 5 minutes walk away and although it is mainly concrete and shingles the water is great and you will find sand there if you dare going in. Maybe nothing for sunbathers who spend their holiday at the beach, but for a swim and a bit of sunbathing certainly sufficient.
The nearest bus stop is 2 minutes away and will take you to either Split or Omis which is, as written in another review, really worth a visit. Both are about 30 minutes away which makes Podstrana a good location slightly away from the buzz of Split. Me for myself I like it, and you'll get to Split easy enough.
It is directly at a main road but thanks to the air conditioning you will not have to leave your windows open during the night and can therefore mostly shut the noise out.
You'll find the next supermarket maybe 10 minutes away and together with the local Pizzeria, Fabio's (which is absolutely superb), it will help you to survive...
The owner of the Villa Luketa is very very friendly and helpful too which, together with all the other points, made it a really enjoyable visit.
I seldom go to a place twice, but in this case I will really consider it.

We have just returned from a week at the Villa Luketa. if you have children, you are elderly or have difficulty walking then i wouldn't bother! There must be at least 20+ steps to get to the bottom apartments, steps up to the upper level apartments and steps to the beach....if you can call it that!!

The rooms are nice and clean. The bed would fit a family of 4 in it, the TV has 2 english channels. Sky news and BBC news. The kitcehn is well stocked with kitchen utensils. The bathroom....only enough hot water for the quickest of showers, so no good if more than 1 of you want a shower at the same time of day. The shower head is pointing straight out into the middle of the bathroom, so when you have a shower the whole bathroom gets wet (shower curtain doesn't act as a very good defence!), and the drain is in the wrong place, so it never drains away!

There is no reception to get your keys from, so you just have to find someone to find out which apartment you are staying in. If it's the granny of the family, beware, she does not speak a word of english!!)
The sheets and towels will not get changed throughout your stay, nor will your apartment will not be cleaned. The "village" bins are located by the bus stop.

The beach....well what can you say...shingles...no sunbeds...no nothing really. Not worth even mentioning it. Nice little walk, but thats about it.

This apratment block is in the middle of nowhere, on a very busy main road, with no pavements to walk on. You litterally take you life in your hands, when walking along or crossing this road!!

At the top of the steps, if you walk (carefully!) right, you will find a bakery, which is open fro 0600, and the bread and cakes are superb! Next to this is Fabio's Pizziera, the only eating/drinking place within walking distance of the apartments. The food in Fabio's was lovely, and the people who work there are so nice. Worth a visit or 2....

Outside Fabio's is a bus stop, Bus no 60, which will take you into Split, fare is 12Kuna (about £1.20) each way. the buses run every 30mins. on the hour and half past the hour and are as regular as clockwork.....cheap and cheerfull!
Almost opposite is a bus stop going in the other direction, all the way to Omis, which is stunning and a trip up through the canyon is well worth it! again the bus in no 60 will take you there. This costs between 12-16Kuna eachway. This bus leaves again every 30mins at 20past/10 to the hour.

I will definatley go back to Croatia, but not to this area.
