We just finished an 8 night stay at this excepionally clean and well situated hotel in the Split area The house keepers are fantastic......however the owners lend a new meaning to German frugality!.....we learned from the first day that to get a cold beer for the beach or a capaccino we had to walk next door to another cafe (about 10 meters) for sevice.
Not once was the hotel cafe on the beach open for business. When we asked for an umbrella the next day we were told "it was broken"...never mind the fact that there were several brand new cafe size umbrellas still wrapped in plainview on the terrace...not to mention the awnings which appeared to never have been unfurled, certainly not during our stay so when we were enjoying the beach we had to move with the shade of the lone tree next to the closed cafe cafe.It seems that the owners mentality is if it isn`t used no nead to ever maintain it nor replace......the owners are indeed odd. The woman refuses to speak English though we learned from staff that she speaks and understands the language very well. The look a french tourist gave her after a lenghty one way conversation in German was a hoot!!!! We call her "Frau Kuna "as the laundry at 15 kuna (about $2.75) a piece is returned back damp if you don`pay an additional $2.75 to have it ironed!!!!...even underwear!!!! Beach towels(better to say they are towels to be used on the beah) could be rented for 20 kuna a day....or bought for 130 kuna ! Both owners seemed displeased as we walked back from other cafes.
