“Great view and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

We went to Thyme Out for lunch during a run with about 30 members of the Gore Vintage Car Club. There was ample parking on a grassed area in front of the tea shop and comfortable seating inside. The pre-booked group took up the whole of the tea shop for their very reasonably-priced lunch which was delicious with an ample selection of sandwiches, savouries, salads and cakes with tea and coffee as well. The one gluten-free member was also well catered for! The weather was very windy which didn't encourage visits to the animal enclosures but we had a great view of the sea from inside.

“Quiet, with a good view and animals to watch too!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

Signposted from the main road so relatively easy to find once you've got onto the road to Riverton Rocks but tucked away so it's quiet and peaceful. The tea room is set out with space between the tables and a very pleasant outside area. As well as enjoying the view of the hills and the sea there is a menagerie to look at. We stopped in for afternoon tea and my wife had a very enjoyable toasted sandwich, gluten free bread was available so I could have one too. The menu extends to light lunches as well as teas and is reasonably priced. We'll be going again!

“Wonderful place to spend a rainy afternoon.”

We found this quaint little place when looking for a place to get in out of the rain and lucked out in finding the Thyme Out. Spent an enjoyable hour with coffee and treats.

“Good Value”

Cosy, good value and off the beaten track so very peaceful. My guests from Riverton Bed and breakfast go there, and enjoy the animals as well.

“Best blue cod & salad and best coffee in Southland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2011

Nola runs a very friendly, relaxed tea house in Riverton with a picturesque view across to lovely Taramea Bay.
Sit inside for a cosy feel, or outside to see Nola's sheep, donkey, deer and alpacas wandering quietly in the field adjacent to the childrens' play area.
Incredibly good value for money with the typical Southland friendliness - well worth the drive to Riverton.
