This is a large village pub with Restauraunt. We visited for Sunday lunch and it was excellent the food was of very high quality and all excellent value to.
The waiters were very attentive and topped us up with extra gravy and vegetables as required.
For a great quality Sunday lunch this is the place.

I ordered halibut but it was so overcooked I couldn't chew it. When I complained the waiter just shrugged his shoulders and took it away. There was no offer of replacement or refund. Very disappointing.

We need to visit Aberdare occasionally and this is by far the best food we have been served in the area. We have now eaten at the Glancynon on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed by the quality of the food or the size of the portions. The decor is what you would expect from a lounge bar rather than a fancy restaurant but then we didn't go there to look at paintings by local artists or to sit on designer chairs. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We look forward to our next visit

Visit this nice pub around once every three months on a Saturday night. Always packed with locals and diners and always a nice friendly atmosphere-the Landlord makes a point of welcoming you as do his hard working staff.
The food is always well prepared and tasty, although, as this is very busy with meals being served in the upstairs restaurant and the downstairs lounge, waiting time can be lengthy, (40 mins when we last visited, and had to ask the bar staff when it was coming). It is definately adviseable to book in advance, as often functions are held and you cannot get a reservation. I think it is value for money and a nice place to spend an evening, my only suggestion would be to change the menus a little more frequently, although there is the saying "don't fix the wheel if it's not broken".
Will keep visiting as it is always a safe bet for a nice evening out.
