“Immaculately clean & friendly service”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

Set in a beautiful location with good amenities. Owners were very helpful and friendly, couldn't do enough for you, but not in an intrusive fashion. The rooms were probably the cleanest I've ever been in, being an older property the beams & little nooks can pick up dust, not here. Gleaming bathroom and room. Bed was comfortable and food was delicious. Wifi was a little weak in the room but worked fine in other areas. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All looked lovely, only saw my one properly.

Stayed here for 1 night, had a really nice break. Owners were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast very nice, room was big with 4-poster bed, lots of nice little touches like loads of smellies in the bathroom and hot water bottle. Would stay here again :-)

I came up to Norfolk from Wiltshire with my mum for family funeral. I cannot express how delightful this place is. The owners were lovely, taking the time to make sure we had everything we needed and to chat to us when they saw us. I was so impressed how clean the rooms are and also with the thoughtful detail in the rooms from corkscrew and heated blankets in the bedroom to the shoe polishing kit in the bathroom. The dining room is so quaint and full of memories that it cannot be anything but interesting. Scrummy freshly cooked breakfast welcomed us in the morning! And so reasonably priced, we will definitely book here again next time we come up. Thanks!

From the first call to book the room, all the way through to our farewell, the owners could not have been more friendly and hospitable.

Room lovely and comfortable with far more facilities than you would expect - an abundance of bath "smellies", bathrobes, lovely cookie biscuits......What more can we say

Thanks
Eileen and Gerald

Room Tip: four poster bed was lovely

Excellent breakfast, pleasant outlook, very decent room, nice people. I'd echo the comments about the loo seat that won't stay up: a minor glitch but irritating. But my main gripe is the Wifi: I was in Room 5 and it was totally unreliable. I don't mind having no connectivity at all, but I do mind complete unpredictability when it is theoretically available. Perhaps some kind of booster might be possible for that particular room. And maybe this is just the national problem with rural broadband. (Also there was no O2 phone signal, which is not unusual for Norfolk, and isn't the fault of the owners, of course.) But overall, I didn't regret my choice: the owners clearly do their best for their guests and it was £45 fairly well spent.

Thank you for your comments. Being a rural location the Broadband is not up to the same standard and speed as in towns and more built up areas. The good news is that we are being upgraded with fibre optic, but unfortunately the time you stayed we were experiencing intermittent service due to the work being done on the junction boxes in the village. As to the phone 02 never has been good, although we find we get fantastic reception on all other serices, unfortunately this is beyond our control. We do hope you enjoyed the art exhibition at Houghton.

we have visited the cross keys on a number of occasions, and it gets better we feel like we are greeted as friends rather than guests, its a lovely atmosphere. We had a bedroom in the main house (four poster and double corner bath) loads of room even a sofa to sit on. We felt really well looked after and couldnt have asked for more, breakfast as always lots of it and hot and tasty mmmmm.
