We found the city domes, the scenic location and the food wonderful, in particular, dinner including service was great. You can get a lunchbox when you are out during lunchtime. When you are back for lunch, then they will serve great food as well.

However, we got this information, among many others, only by sheer luck. The staff could not provide information about day hikes or offer help when trying to figure out how to get a transfer in the park. Moreover, they gave us wrong bus schedules, e.g., they told us that there is a bus at 2:30 pm, which was actually at 2 pm. Missing that would have ended in us missing our transfer to El Calafate. Another example: They told us that there is no transfer from Ecocamp/Visitor center to the Pehoe ferry but, in fact, there is one. Even the dinner and breakfast times could not be provided in a way that any hotel would: Upon arrival around noon, there was no set time for our dinner. It appeared to us, that we were scheduled around other guests. Wrong breakfast times were given to us, which almost resulted in us not getting breakfast. It all seems to be the result of a bad management for the individual guests, because each staff member tried their best, but was either badly informed and/or not well-trained. A simple information sheet for guests staying there without a guide would probably solve a lot of these misunderstandings. The information folder provided mostly tried to sell pricey guided tours and e.g. contained the schedule for yoga lessons, which due to the lack of teachers did not take place - which we hadn't been told either.

There is one major point that irritated us a lot: This seemingly mismanagement did not seem to be true for guests that booked a full tour with a special tour operator (we booked with a booking platform). We got the feeling that all the focus lied on the other guests but us.

Some minor points: Shared bathrooms are cleaned only once a day and, thus, can get very dirty in the mornings. The baskets for toilet paper were completely full in the late afternoons already. This can be acceptable for a hostel but you should ask yourself whether it is still, if you spend 345 USD per night for a dome without lighting and heating. However, also keep in mind that Torres del Paine is generally overpriced (which is reflected in the Ecocamp price), unless you bring your tents and manage to book campsites a year ahead in high season.

Hola,

Thanks for your feedback! We are pleased to know you enjoyed both the beauty of the place and the food at EcoCamp. We are nevertheless sorry to hear you were disappointed with the communication and information that was provided to you and passed on your comments to the appropriate team members. We will make sure to reinforce the information you are talking about and to improve our communication to individual travelers.

As a matter of fact, our guests mainly opt for programs to fully enjoy the EcoCamp experience (EcoCamp is more about the experience than about the accommodation itself) which is why they have a guide with them during their stay. As for individual travelers (that come through a booking platform), we make sure to send a document to every guest before their trip, that includes both the schedule of the buses in Torres del Paine and general information about the area. All guests are also welcome to take part in the daily briefings (with our guides) in the Bar Dome.

As for the Yoga classes, our Yoga instructor was exceptionally absent from EcoCamp on the days you were there, which we unfortunately could not prevent. We are sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.
Shared bathrooms are cleaned 3 to 5 times a day, which is something we reinforced over time.

We hope to welcome you again in Patagonia and please do not hesitate to send us an email if you have any further comment. Our guests' feedback is the best way to constantly improve the quality of the service we provide at EcoCamp!

Best,
Timothy

Everything about EcoCamp is perfect. The food is delicious. The common area is a fun, cozy place to hang out. We stayed in a suite loft dorm and it was perfect for 4 of us. We did the 5 day W trek and had an incredible experience. Our guides were so wonderful - kind and knowledgeable and facilitated a great group bond. I cannot recommend a trip with EcoCamp enough!!

We chose this because we don’t like regular hotels. Loved the model of ecocamp. We were in a standard dome. If you like a little more luxury then you’d better go for a superior dome. No heating and shared bathroom but we were more than warm enough at night. Hot shower was cold on one occasion. Communal areas are great. Wonderful model with safari tours. You get to mix and dine with different people each day. Guides and staff were fabulous. Great English language skills. Highly recommend this place if you like something a bit different and are not looking for the luxury of hotels. Must say though, meals were absolutely first class.

Hola,

Thanks for your comments! We are delighted to know you loved EcoCamp. We never use the word "luxury" yet we are proud to offer high quality service and comfort with Sustainabiility at the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. Our team is a key aspect of that experience, and so is the food after a day exploring the incredible landscapes of Patagonia.

Best,
Timothy

Eco Camp is making a huge effort to provide comfort, a sustainable environment, and sourcing local products and personnel to run the camp. The food was excellent, menus offered a good variety, and lunch (which we made ourselves) was a smorgasbord of goodies. The cocktails were very special, and the comfort of the communal areas were homely and inviting. The suites were well appointed and very comfortable and the heating very effective. The whole environment is wonderful - I would highly recommend this experience.

It was my dream to go to Patagonia for a few years, it took me a long time because I decided that I wanted to stay specifically in EcoCamp and it was never available when I tried to book.

I decided to go by myself so it was easier to plan ahead. It was my first time traveling solo and I had the most wonderful time. Staff is so friendly, location was perfect and everything was as beautiful as seen in pictures. I'm vegan and even thought options were mostly vegetarian, they've always managed to make a great vegan meal for me. But the best part for sure was the friends that I've made for life.

Room tip: I was in the standard. A good option if you want to save money, but really cold at night.
