Hosteria Pehoe

This is one of those hotels that you;re not sure about. For every good thing, something else lets it down.

I felt it was expensive for an aged and worn hotel that offers little other than a bed and respite on those cold windy (very, very windy) days. The photos look good. I have to say sitting behind a big picture window facing the Torres on a day when the wind was whipping the lake into a frenzy was great. Although the service was indifferent in the bar/restaurant. They almost seemed to prefer you only bothered them during set meal times, and went somewhere else rather than spend your afternoon with hot chocolate or wine with cheese looking out at the mountains.

However your choices around this part of the world are limited. You can chance the weather and rough it under a tent, or you can pay through the nose for a sturdier roof.

I did get the chance to check out other accommodation when we were in Patagonia, and I felt this hotel offered poor value for money in comparison. You certainly can;t fault the location, on it's own island with postacrd walkway across to the hotel. I would recommend you pay a little more and go for somewhere more up-to-date, and with welcoming staff.

The view is stunning from the island the Hosteria Pehoe is on. The rooms are very dated and worn. The food is basic and way over priced but then look where you are, It is along way to bring supplies in. We experienced a incredible sunrise of Torres del Paine. So it was a great location but very basic lodging.

we stayed here 3 nights. It is fantsatic to be in the middle of the park (compared to driving in from Porto Natales). Be prepared to compromise on the room and service in return you get a fantastic location.

We quickly learned that you have two options in Torres Del Paine: Camp, or stay at a super-expensive, all-inclusive hotel. We wanted neither. Hosteria Pehoe filled this gap, in that you have the option of adding their excursions if you want to, but you also aren't roughin' it. We read many reviews that said that it was run down, and I would agree that, elsewhere, for this price, we would have expected much more: the showers look like they need re-caulking, there is no TV, the food was definitely not worth writing home about. However, we were happy to have an medium-priced locale in the Torres Del Paine park where we weren't forced to do everything through them.

That said, we were disappointed that we'd mentioned to them that we were on our honeymoon and they didn't even crack a smile, go out of their way to do anything nice for us, and the staff wasn't overly friendly. The rooms do not have a TV and the bar is definitely not a social hangout, so wear yourself out during the day so you can sleep at night. Nightlife is not an option.

This hotel have one of the most beautiful view that I have seen in all my trips. As "Torres Del paine" it isn't a place where you can find cheap hotes, i think hosteria Pehoe worth what you pay. specially because the location. our rooms was 36, and it has the most beautiful view of the hotel. But really, don't expect modern rooms, with nice decorations, tvs, something like that, because there aren't . the rooms are simple however cleaned. the breakfast is decent, and the restaurant has a fixed menu, with 02 or 03 options of entry, main course and dessert each day ( You pay for each one you choose). They have a business center but You pay for use internet, however they offer a free wi-fi.

I booked 6 months in advance and read all the reviews, but we ended up in the rennovated section and had one of the few rooms with a view (#36). our room was great. clean, quite, water was fine, etc...

based on other reviews, we didn't eat dinner here, but went down the road to the campground, which was a really good meal (for where we were).

The help at the desk was great. The weather was crazy, but they were able to give good advice on what to see and do based on different conditions.

As for the cost, it is a lot, but remember that your other options are much more. I wouldn't want to do the drive in from Natales everyday. We had a really great experience here and I'd like to thank the staff for it.

This is one of the amazing spots on the planet. This is also one of the poorest hotels. It really needs a complete overhaul. The one thing this place has going for it is the view and that is about it. The restaurant was ok and the breakfast fine. The hotel was expensive for the quality and definitely is playing off of the value of the location.
