This is one of those hotels that you;re not sure about. For every good thing, something else lets it down.
I felt it was expensive for an aged and worn hotel that offers little other than a bed and respite on those cold windy (very, very windy) days. The photos look good. I have to say sitting behind a big picture window facing the Torres on a day when the wind was whipping the lake into a frenzy was great. Although the service was indifferent in the bar/restaurant. They almost seemed to prefer you only bothered them during set meal times, and went somewhere else rather than spend your afternoon with hot chocolate or wine with cheese looking out at the mountains.
However your choices around this part of the world are limited. You can chance the weather and rough it under a tent, or you can pay through the nose for a sturdier roof.
I did get the chance to check out other accommodation when we were in Patagonia, and I felt this hotel offered poor value for money in comparison. You certainly can;t fault the location, on it's own island with postacrd walkway across to the hotel. I would recommend you pay a little more and go for somewhere more up-to-date, and with welcoming staff.
