“visit to torres del paine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

This was my third visit to the national park.I have been to torres twice before & stayed in the park with EXPLORA last time.this time i decided to stay with TIERRA PATAGONIA & I had most wonderful time in spite of few days of bad weather.Hotel is located on the lake with wonderful view of the paine massif from all rooms & common areas & breakfast /dinning room.the service & food was five star.i am a vegetarian & the chef had no problem serving vegetarian dishes & it was great.I even asked for the recipe for Pumpkin soup.I did long day hikes for 5 days & all the guides were excellent & i am so glad that i was doing some of the hikes i was doing it with them.
During this trip my brother sprained his ankle & hotel manager Chris volunteered to drive to P.Mont, for medical help & for remaining of his day they offered to take him out daily for short excursion.I am really thankful to the team of guide to make his stay more enjoyable.Special thanks to sergio, carlos, kangaroo for great time with hikes.sergio special thanks for taking care of my brother.
I really enjoyed the pool & Jacuzzi ,Sauna at the end of the day, returning from my hikes.Jacuzzi & the pool has great views of Paine Massif.
would not hesitate to go back,as i love to be in nature. The property offers great valu for your money. They also have SPA,WHICH i did not use.
This is the only hotel that arranges your transfer to EL-CALAFATE,which was most convient & expeditious way to reach El Calafate. We reached el calafate by 12 noon & were able to tale excursion to PERITO MORENO GLACIER the same day.

Room Tip: all room have great view of the paine massif

We spent 4 nights at Tierra Patagonia, and the entire stay was delightful. The architecture of the hotel emphasizes the natural beauty. Our room had a breathtaking view of the Paine Massif and the Torres. The (all-included) food and wine was wonderful and creatively prepared, and the staff worked hard to accommodate special food needs and allergies. The (all-included) excursions were well planned and led by knowledgable and fun guides. Special thanks to Kinerit for recommending and organizing our excursions, and to Felipe, Rosario, Lucas, and Chris for leading them. Tierra Patagonia should not be missed.

The only criticism is that the items in the gift shop are extremely overpriced. If they want us to wear advertising for the hotel, a normal T-shirt shouldn't cost $38 USD. But if you come prepared, you shouldn't need to buy anything.

We stayed here 3 nights. The hotel is beautiful, the location stunning and the staff wonderful. It has stunning architecture and interior design. The optional guided walks and tours were terrific. Food was good, though could have a bit more variety.

Room Tip: All rooms are facing Torres Del Paine and beautiful

We just returned from a seven day stay at Tierra Patagonia Hotel and Spa. The hotel is exceptional in every way and our trip exceeded our expectations. The hotel is architecturally quite stunning even as it sits quite discreetly in the landscape surrounding it. The interiors are both fresh and warm with great light and incredible views across a lake with a mountain backdrop. All public and private rooms enjoy the same great views which are often animated by grazing sheep and wild animals including Guanaco, fox and Rhea that happen by. There is a cozy library off the main public space as well as some fun suspended "egg" chairs to sit in on the lower level. The guest rooms are very cozy with comfortable beds and linens. The food is excellent and the food service very friendly. The hotel staff is eager to please and happy to accommodate special needs. One of the great strengths of the hotel is the team of excellent guides that lead the daily excursions to the nearby national park. The guides are both friendly and knowledgeable and it is clear that they have a passion for the region and for their work. Each evening the guides meet individually with guests to plan the next day's excursion if the guest would like to go on one. During the meeting the guide takes into consideration the guest's interests and their hiking ability in order to work out excursion details. We found all of the excursions to be exceptional. The landscape, flora and fauna in the park is unique and frequently changes over the course of an excursion, even the shorter excursions. After hiking we really enjoyed taking a swim in the nicely heated indoor hotel pool, followed by a dip in the whirlpool. Both the pool and whirlpool have the same great views as the rest of the hotel. On one of the days, after a fairly long hike, I had a wonderfully relaxing massage in the hotel's spa which I found to be worth the splurge.

We suggest that visitors to the region invest in some good hiking shoes, a "buff", and "technical clothing" that can be layered since the weather changes quickly.

Room Tip: All rooms have the same gorgeous view. As noted in other reviews, the hotel is long and thin with th...

Getting to Torres del Paine National Park is not easy, long flights and even longer drives but arriving at Tierra Patagonia Hotel instantly wiped away negative emotions. The setting of the hotel on the shores of a large blue lagoon with the massive granite peaks in the background is awe inspiring. The design and architecture of the hotels is remarkable in its on right aside from it's amazing location. I was slightly concerned about the service we might receive with the hotel being new and open less than one year. Fortunately I worried for not, the service was just fine, still not great like you would expect from a top notch well oiled machine but considering the remote location and less than one year of operations, pretty good service. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the various food offerings. I had read other reviews expressing dissatisfaction with the food quality. The hotel most have gotten a new chef. The lunch and dinner menus were varied and prepared with high quality ingredients in an expert fashion. We were very happy with the food overall. The guides, which are a big part of a stay at this kind of property, were all very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting this very end of the world.

We just spent 3 glorious days at Tierra Patagonia just outside the Torres del Paine park in Patagonia, Chile from 11/03 to 11/06/12. We absolutely loved the lodging, food, staff, pool, spa, and atmosphere. The place is immaculate, with breathtaking views of the Massif including the Towers and Horns. We had a personal guide for our spectacular hikes (Jorge) and even a second guide (Chris) for one all-day hiking, picnicking, and exploring experience. The facility is much newer and more modern than the Explora, with free Internet service, and brand new accommodations. The chef actually left the Explora and now works here, along with our guide as well who knew absolutely everything about the park and surroundings. Lifetime memories and 300+ pictures to help. We also got to know Christopher, the owner/manager, and even dined with him our first night. Great buffet breakfasts too with omelettes and amazing local offerings. Truly the best of the best in one of the very best places on Earth!

Our stay at Tierra Patagonia was nothing short of spectacular and it's difficult to articulate just how much we loved everything about it. The location is phenomenal: the hotel is set right on a lake and every room has a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains. The exterior is designed to blend into the natural landscape and was mostly built with wood and concrete and exudes a yoga like chic and natural vibe, with very high end finishing and fantastic attention to detail. The moment you walk inside, it smells wonderful - a mixture of fresh wood and slightly scented oils - and exudes calm and tranquility. The bar area was beautiful, the dining room had fantastic views, and there is even a relaxing/lounge area and a library all in the common area. The food is very good and I was very thankful that they offered options that suited my (quasi vegetarian) and my husband's (big-time meat eater) preferences.

While I've stayed at some gorgeous facilities before, it's the people here that make all the difference in the world. The hotel is very well staffed, and I believe the total capacity for guests is around 100. They have 10 guides, numerous waiters, and various workers on hand to help with your every request. Whereas other hotels may give exceptional service, the staff at Tierra Patagonia genuinely want you to have a great experience and they go out of their way to make sure you do. The guides that we had were AMAZING. All were very knowledgeable about Patagonia and many had guided excursions for years. As is typical of outdoor experts, these guides loved nature but had the rare quality of making a guest feel right at home. In fact, when you spend hours hiking through a wilderness, you get to know your guides very quickly and these individuals had a genuineness and sincerity to everything they did. Not only were they fun to be around, but you also felt very safe in their care (a big plus considering how remote Torres del Paine is in case of any emergencies!). Alvaro, Jorge, Chris, and Kina (sp?), you were all amazing and we hope to see you again one day!! Additionally the wait staff was great and you often had the same waiters throughout you stay; it was always nice to see a familiar face after a long and physically demanding day of excursions! Angelo, thanks for the wine tasting and all the Spanish lessons!!

There are many options to do throughout your stay and I will give my thoughts on some of the ones that we did. The Base of the Torres hike was incredibly beautiful and very demanding. My husband and I are in good shape, young (30 & 31), and I'm a runner; we thought that the 'hard' hikes would be fairly easy since we presumed that perhaps they were rated based on 40-60 year old fitness levels. Ha! We were mistaken. :o) However, we did finish the hike in a decent time but I would say if you want to do the excursions that are labeled 'hard', then definitely put in some legwork prior to your trip. Hunter's Trail was a great 1/2 day excursion, and Paseo de la Guitarra is a beautiful full day hike. We got to have four full days of excursions and the guides made sure that we did everything we wanted to do. On your first day, they sit down with you, see what you're interested in, and lay out a schedule that is tailored to your desires. They really accommodate your every need!

The one negative was that due to the hotel's remote location, the water pressure for the hot water in our shower was very low. The shower itself was a waterfall shower and had great pressure at cooler temperatures, but not for the hottest temps. Regardless, this did not put a damper (no pun intended) on any part of our stay.

A few quick tips: bring everything you think you'll need, especially in terms of any OTC medicine. They do not have a gift shop that sells things like Advil, Benadryl etc. Also, there's not a menu for snacks, but they can make sandwiches and french fries throughout the day (and I'm sure other options as well). Also, bring lots of layers. We lucked out with great weather, but conditions change very quickly there. If you're hesitant to buy the more expensive gore-tex material items, or wicking technology, they're definitely worth it and help with your comfort.

There are few places that I've traveled to that I know I must return to one day and this is one of them (I would also love to visit its sister property, Tierra Atacama in Northern Chile). To all the staff at Tierra Patagonia that made our stay unforgettable, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to see you all again; until then, best wishes, a warm embrace, and great thanks!

Room Tip: There are three room options: Suite, Superior and Standard. Standard is the cheapest option and the...
